Hi! I'vw been trying for some time now to get 3600mhz stable on my striker, i was only able to do it with the VTT voltage maxed out (1.55v), vcore is quite low for my e6600 (1.38v bios 1002).
What is the VTT voltage, and will it damage anything?????? Cheers:)
Will an 8 pin atx help or is the 4 pin atx ok??
I think the CPU VTT voltage was ruled to not harm anything.. and it was best to max it out for max OC numbers.. from what I remember in the 680i overclocking thread info..

No one seems to know what it does, but I have found it to be a high FSB stabilizer in my practices. I don't know about possible damage, but I've been at 1.5v with no issues to date.
too high CPU VTT actually makes some of my core2 duos unstable at high FSB.. i think it depends on each core2 cpu and may vary as to what the cpu likes for max CPU VTT.
For some reason my CPU VTT won't go below 1.41 which is where it is at right now when i'm doing 3.6ghz.
I have no clue what CPU VTT is but supposedly its the termination voltage of the CPU. I have no clue what a "termination voltage" is but there's some info on it here on the first paragraph. I've read it and I still can't make sense of it but maybe u can.
As for pins I dunno if there's much difference but I'm using the 8pin.
I tried my hand at figuring out a vdroop pencil mod and it worked. Now my voltage is dead on. If anyone else is interested here's the link it is the 6th post down.
Because of this mod I can lower my vcore in bios from 1.45 to 1.38.
I hey all. I upgraded my bios to 1002 last night and I think it screwed something up. In vista my display driver stops and restarts itself. I've reinstalled the driver and it still goes on. So i cleared the cmos and reverted back to 09xx and i still the same prob. Any idea's?
If i were u i'd look thru every bios setting one by one and make sure you manually set it all again.
Maybe its asus linkboost. You can try disabling it.
Ya link boost is disabled. I did a lot of reading about bios settings for the board before i set everything up. Funny thing is the system ran fine on 0902 it was when i installed 1002 that this started happening. I think when I get home i'll clear cmos again and try to flash back to 1002 if not just reload the rig. We'll see what happens..
The nVidia display driver resetting itself is actually a common problem for a lot of people. Most people seem to think its just the nvidia driver being crappy. I dont know if bios 1002 had anything to do with it. It could just be that bios 1002 is more unstable than what you had before and is now erroring out.
Just a guess.
Now is that a Vista or XP problem or both?
Vista prolly , haven't had any issues with my nvidia cards ( 7900GTX and 8800GTX) on the Striker not with 0402,0505,0803,0902,1002 bios
I checked on it. It is a Vista only problem. According to Vista problem reports, it is a common problem and is being researched.
I would bet that nvidia's next driver release will fix this.
Want a nice stress test? Get vista dreamscene from vista ultimate extras. have it play the default video stretched to screen.
See how long you can go without an error.
theres som major problems overhere with this mobo... Im using settings as stated below and just cant make it over 1200fsb!!!! What am I doing wrong???
The cpu itself is rock solid at 3600mhz in different mobos. The memorys is set unlinked at 800mhz. (OCZ8500SLI)

just to be sure, take down the multiplier and reduce the vdimm to 2.15v.
make sure the northbridge is being cooled very well.
all other settings look ok... maybe try auto for northbridge and southbridge voltage to see what happens.
Ok, tested... No difference. Im booting at 1200fsb and ocing from windows. Complete lockup at 1300fsb....!! A total dissaster!!! 51c cpu temp at full load Orthos. Big 120 fan over the mb. Is there nothing more to do? If so, this is my absolute last performance with the Nvidia 680i orchestre..... I started to OC my computers 4 months ago. 3 years before that ,I lived with it 24/7....

set it straight to 1600FSB, unlinked mode set ram 1066 manually, disable EPP profile and linkboost 2 plz, I assume you have an E6600
I also would test both ram dimms seperately with eg memtest. Thios board slightly overvolts the ram and at 1066mhz only 2.2 volts is required for these OCZ dimms (I have the same) so set to 2.1750 to get 2.2 volts. Also therea re some holes that don't work, so 1600 (400FSB works like a charm) , if you encounter a hole plz add 20mhz or so to the FSB eg 1333 should work also...

I had the same problem and had to take one of my sons Corsair 5400 sticks to boot at. And when theres no luck att OCing, the same procedure. Out with the cord, push the Cmos button, out with the battery, in with the Corsairstick, raise the ramvoltage, reboot, shutoff the compu, in with my OCZ8500 sticks and off we go..... At 300mhz max bus...!!!! This is absolutely top class... Even the cheapest MSI board will easily manage to get past that..
I dont know why I throw out my 520mhz fsb Gigabyte DQ6 ($170) for this piece of crap...
Oh yes, Ive tried different bioses. For not to mention all the settings....
Cpu at 51c full load Orthos. Big 120 fan over mb. All other parts used with the DQ6 board...
And I will gladely redraw all this if theres someone that can point me in the right direction..

Just set this in the bios this should work as it does with 99.9% of the peeps, windows overclock software is buggy.
First have you tried eg 8X multi does it work then 1600/1066?
Have you memtested each module seperately ? It seems weird you need other ram top boot with the mobo , these dimms work perfectly at 1.8 volts 800mhz 5-5-5-15. Plz check ya ram
Give us a screenshot what Asus probe detects of voltages when running with the above mentioned voltages...
And Sadly I must say but Asus forum is full of peeps that seem to have invented fire again but sadly most of their comments lead to nowhere
puttekula: If i were you i'd check 2 things. Check what real vcore is with a multimeter and check if you have one of those "made in china" boards.
Does anyone know what 1.2VHT is for? In asus probe it keeps jumping from 0.00v to 1.5v, usually it stays at 1.36v but occasionally it'll jump around.
BTW i was having crackling noise problems but i installed the newest beta sound driver and now its gone.

1.45 in vcore bios says 1.33 in probe... I have the latest official bios now. #9
Where to measure volt at the mobo? Its a Taiwan 1.00g..

Puttekala that cannot be correct you mean CPU VTT prolly is 1.33 in asus probe, CPU VCORE we need, should be around 1.41 now or so when you set .1.45 in bios.
Already glad the bios did the trick, i've never been to keen on windows utilities by the boardmakers...

Got issues with stability. The rams doesnt even run 1066mhz stable. Tried both together and each separately...
Stops Orthos after 2-18 minutes. Trying them at 800 right now.:( I did run them at 1100mhz stable before but have started to see some problems here and there before the mb swap too.
Cpu at 3500right now and 1.31 Vcore 59c Orthos. Where to measure the right vcore?

Back to bios 1002 and 1.45.showing 1.38 fullload Orthos 3600mhz 66c coretemp. Memory ok at 800mhz.

Well you need to reverse those settings, CPU VCORE should be around 1.4 volts (real) so 1.4750 minimum in bios (in your case), CPU VTT you can reduce to 1.35, your cpu is not getting enough juice that's why orthos crashes.
Check ya ram from the vendor , my ram needs 2 volts to be stable at 1066mhz, so I need to set 2.1750 ( the board slighlty overvolts ).
Yes just got the cube back from the painthsop , nice black now rad is goin in on the right hand side, in fact all watercooling plus PSU is going in that compartiment there except the pump.

Just some observations on the "made in China or Taiwan" versions, i have had both, i broke the taiwan one! The chinese version i have seems to require max CPU VTT volts to get to 3600mhz (e6600) whereas the other 1.4v was plenty. I seem to have less vdroop now, all is stable at 1.375vcore....... temps under orthos max out at 50 degrees, (depending on room temps),.....trying to get them lower by re-seating cpu block
