it appears that the 975X Platinum bios is not ready for prime time!...cpu frequency reported as 900 mhz...Sheezit!
this board was on my short list...i am not sure anymore.
I think I can deal with a few number quirks. Lets see some max FSB though! :woot:
Thats what im sayin. Im looking ds3 or this, if the price is under $200. But i want to order by sunday, cause im going on vacation and would love to comeback to a house full of presents. :D

What does C1E function do?

C1E enhanced halt state — Introduced in the Pentium 4 500J-series processors, the C1E halt state replaces the old C1 halt state used on the Pentium 4 and most other x86 CPUs. The C1 halt state is invoked when the operating system's idle process issues a HLT command. (Windows does this constantly when not under a full load.) Entering halt state, which is a lower-power state, will cut a CPU's power consumption and heat production. Intel's new C1E halt state is also invoked by the HLT command, but it turns down the entire CPU's clock frequency (via multiplier control) and voltage in order to work its mojo. This more robust halt state requires significantly less power than the old C1 implementation.

have you tried any higher fsb at ur 7x multi and it wont let you drop the multi to 6
also did u update bios or use what it shipped with, if u did update how did u flash it, which method
i already update the bios to ver 711. when came to me, the board shipped with bios ver 700.
My method to update is using hard disk which only can boot to dos. My bootable hdd only contains dos 6.22
I couldn't get it to run either. I'm at work now, but I was getting an unhandled exception message.

Ok so have we come to a verdict yet on FSB?
So far I've heard people complain because they can't go over 400 FSB, others complaining because they can't even get close to a 400 FSB, and others who are hitting 425 FSB. Coolaler was hitting very high FSB with this board so I find it hard to believe that it ios the boards fault.
I'm tempted to think that the issues people are having are not board related but either running the wrong BIOS version or not setting things correctly.
This board seems very nice so I'm waiting on some concrete proof here. We need to figure out why some are having issues and some are not so taht we can find the truth about this board.
I am getting my MSI board on monday and will do some experimenting monday night. I have also bought a Thermalright HR-05 northbridge cooler with a 70mm fan so we will see if I can get better FSB results. my goal is 450FSBX8(E6400)= 3.6Ghz.Quote:
