A very good point. I was just an average skier but I got some really good ski boots, ski's, gloves and poles and now I feel embarrassed with the two Olympic medals I have at home.Quote:

Have a long hard think about that sentence.

yea, coments like that really irritate me. i've spent a lot of time in the OC world, (5yr+) and no matter how much money i spend, i'll probably never be at the top. with the few records i have set, they have always been broken in a matter of hours....
i guess my point is, it takes a lot of knowledge, time, skill.... and so one to achieve those kind of results, and when you compare the average "weekend" overclocker to the caliber of OCer that consistently sits at the top of the orb, or other rankings, well thats just insulting.

go buy GTX SLI, and show us your 1000/1000 bench, better yet, just show one card that fast and ill shut up.
if all it took was money, you would see "bill gates" on top of the ORB, with no competition. if all it took was money, why arn't companies selling computers with guarantees like "Will take you to #1 on all benchmarks...just sign on the dotted line". its not that easy, nor will it ever be
Money can buy you a top of the line setup, but it can't buy you a top of the line OC
erhm the clocks obtained on the card has nothing to do with the skills of a overclocker, you should know that..Quote:

anyways its everyones POV and not worth discussing about , let us enjoy the results we get from teh top benchers ;)
and given the same cards, with the same equipment, you think you could put up the same scores as someone like k|ngp|n (sorry to use you as example KP)Quote:

Fugger warned you once already in another thread.
Then you come onto this thread and disrespect everyone with your opening post. Consider this is your final warning.
To everyone else: Get it back on topic.
I vote mdzcpa :D

lol,, good point there... money cant buy you a brain (if you have the need for)... is better to see some guy with cheap hardware getting the hell out of it, (best bang for the bucks) rather than to see a Super rich guy wasting his money on the most expensive hardware that he even isn't able to get/use 10% of its potencial.Quote:

about the topic, to be fair, the main topic is on hold, unless sb tell us who the MM is, i am save to say that we named all, and I mean all, possible candidates.
and offtopic :D
again, the world spins around money, so if for eg. Mr. Bill Gates wanted to be named as #1 in all 3d benches and all superpi it is safe to say that it would.
And he even wouldn't have to spend that much money, prob 1 or 2 milions of $ and a couple of connections.
1. he has money and VIP to get everything of a HW he needs.
2. he has programers that accually do OS that we are all using for benching, so he can quite easily get most tweaked os you wanted.
3. again, for $ he can quite easily get all the cooling equipement he needs
4. and for actual OCing and benching, he can quite easily pay one of capable guys to do this for him, I am safe to say that for quite less than a milion everybody would do it and be quiet about it :D, i'll do it even for 500$ :D
seriously. when is this guessing game going to end. we all pretty much think its k|ngp|n, but still. just tell us already! :p
Word has it MM/Jason has a conroe now ;) Something about nvidia to...
very interesting indeed as if its not kingpin he is PRETTY MUCH(if not the only one) left who it could be.. and it would make since for him not posting as i believe he is banned from the forums so i guess it pretty much adds up :)Quote:

actually money has a part in it... if you have money you could buy 20x 7900GTX cards and pick the best 2 for SLI pairing. Then buy 3-5 cpus and pick the best clocker... that's 1/3 rd of the way there... but yes cooling/volt mods and oc'ing kno whow are the real skill/tools enabling such clocks hehQuote:
