wow, i can just about run my 7900gt memory at 1820MHz over 1900 is amazing :slobber:
it amazes and baffles me how you guys can get such high 3dmark scores with lower clockspeeds
with my card running at 705/1800 i score around 11313 in 05 and 6575 in 06

http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums/...1&d=1145466272
Your 06 score is spot on and looks great man, I have not run anything but 06 and 01. :D That SM2.0 score is better than mine! And I have the much higher mem. So good work :) I just got lucky with my mem. They are unsinked and on stick volts. Tonight I am gonna redo my volt mods and reseat my heatsink and try for more. Also gonna get off this 24/7 OS lol...
this is with my 79gtx card, terrible scores but decent klocks, i have done a vmodd, but if i up the volt the cards stars throttling, this is on stock V and stock cooling,
i have to get tha card cooler, until that the vmodd is useless,
http://i3.tinypic.com/vy4lsg.jpg
i found that the vdd was not much use to be honest any ho
the more i increased the voltage on the ram the more unstable the card became
you have a nice balance there with the ram higher then the core
I saw something about 2 GHz done by Sf3D no ?Quote:

Got the GT modded finally (cheers Persivore)
Currently still playing with voltages etc, mem's benchable (and pretty much 100% clean) at 1010mhz w/ 2.15 vDD and a little airflow.
Only issue is can't seem to get a high core speed AND run a high memory speed. Any GPU speeds over ~ 600mhz seem to cause windows to lock with high memor y speeds, despite fairly clean runs.
Core wise, running under water 650mhz 1.415v is the current calling point (vDD down at 2.02v atm), ran for a good while at 650/860 earlier with no artifacting. :woot:
Good enough for a shade over 23k 03, and 11k 05. Results arent awsome, but not bad, and should be pretty much 24/7 stable settings too!

Got My second XFX 550 core 7900GT today box says 1.2 revison old one says 1.0
I will have to see if that means newer hardware once I compare them.
I will volt mod the new one to 1.4v and both will be on Water. Will post back when its all up and running.

i have a quick question: would a 1.4v voltmodded 7900GT be as fast as a X1900XT/X? it seems like it would be with the results posted here would be as fast. i have a evga 7900GT CO SC but i can get a X1900XT for cheap plus this card will be going into a shuttle based system.
Amazing. What clocks?Quote:

thanks for the reply! i was thinking that too. looks like i'll be keeping my 7900GT and voltmod it

i think it's cause i'm on xp64 that i don't get whql approved :(
kite7 - core/mem 715/850 as stated in the title :D
one card was holding me back though
luckily i got another so mem clocks are gonna go up.
wow those are some great scores.
I am now convinced to pick up a 7900GT. :D
Ok I see, that makes sense.Quote:

just remember you will need two cards as i'm running sli ;)
heres mine,
BFG 7900GT
stock : 535/ 800
modded (1.4v): 645/ 800
it seems if i go any higher over 645, when i run 3dmark06, it will freeze ocassionaly for about 15- 20 seconds on the gpu test and my score will be really low.... strange thing is there is no artifacts though ..., my temps are 46 idle, around 60 load with the vf900
http://i54.photobucket.com/albums/g8...rs/goodbfg.png
Two XFX 7900GT Extreme 520/1500 editions.
Both voltmodded to 1.4v.
Running 650/1720MHz 24/7 no artifacts, temps 33/35C idle - 40C stress. :D
One card has great RAM (1900MHz stable) but other max out to 1750MHz...
Thats a very good shot kakaroto, it really shows how much more room there is using these cards SLI :toast:Quote:

i think the vmodd will help as soon as i get my other container for DI to my second card, or as sson as i have built my 2 kompressors, i think i need a heavy cooling solutions, until that the vmodd will not help, but under xtreme cooling i think he vmodd will help me squeese out a few xtra points..
Well tonight I did the pencil mod for vmem and pencil mod for switching frequency. eVGA 7900gt CO, I got 670/990 so far with running atitool artifact free for 30 minutes and playing bf2 for an hour and benching with 3dmark05, so still some tests to do and time will tell but here is a link to my results collage, with 3dmark05, temps, cpu-z, powerstrip, and pics of the voltmods I did. I did the 1.5 voltmod and 2.23 vmem, the pic says 1.4 but that isnt true :)

I had to lower my memory down to 900mhz, 3dmark03 experienced massive artifacts, my 3dmark05 score went down to 10481..big dig eh? lol Now only if i could have my original 2.6ghz oc instead of 2.5, that might help :) maybe for the future, i spent my last 3 weekends with this card lol.
im about to run rthdribl for the night, 8 hours, see in the morning if my pc is frozen :p
I bought a XFX 7900GT XT and a Point Of View 7900GT.
Their results with stock cooling:

Sorry if this has been covered already, but does nibitor support the 7900 series cards now?
yes 2.8a does, but you can't edit memory timings yet.

Hi guys, Is 1.5v safe for 24/7 use?
Here is a shot 700/1940
Wow good clocks m8.Lower your CPU Multi x9 and go for more HTT ,so your HT x3 will be over 1k,then run your PCI-e to 114mhz and clock you CPU @ 3100 and you'll see 1k point boost ,as I made it ,look my 1.4v def.cooled results in my sig 05 and 06 ,are with same clock speeds,as yours;)Imo when you cool the card good , 1.5v for 24/7 is safe:)IN 2-3 days I'll change def.cooling and mod to 1.55v and will hunt for 13k on air:)Quote:

Max clocks 100% artifact free are 560/1720.... a little dissapointed with the mem, I've seen some doing >1900 without vmem mods...
Willl try to mod something in a few days and post results. I want try first what can do at 1,3 (I expect about 600) and see the temps first. HAve an VF700cu on it at 7V, and no exceeds 51-52º
salu2.
Its possible that XFX just used tighter memory timings or you could have a dud memory controller on your card. Have you tried cooling the memory better? I know it made a BIG difference on my EVGA card. Think 850 wasnt stable w/o ram sinks and with it 900+ is easy without artifacts and I havent even pushed it yet.
Nice.. I am waiting for two of them.. and same card + speed and cooling upgrade, which should be here the day after the cards arrive. :D 560 seems to be the top end core speed w/o a vmod.. I am looking at the conductive pen trick to 1.4v after I validate the cards run well at default clocks. (aren't defective, etc..)Quote:

I've just ironed out my 7800GTX 256 Vmod and am 100% stable at 605 ~1.68V. This is a jump from previous 500(on air) and 525(water) which gave me a nice ~1.5k jump in 3d'05 scores. I'm now hitting consistant mid 10ks, high 5s in '06.
Ok, finally got some benchies done after doing the 1.5 Vgpu mod and 2.2 Vmem mods.
03 & 05 were done at: 710x920
06 I have not yet retested and it was done at 650x850
I've since been able to get the card up to 740x935 (better cooling) and have a dual core on the way. I will rerun the benches with the new clocks and CPU hopefully by Thursday

YAY! my cards arrived..
http://venus.walagata.com/thumbs/agunn_7900GT6.JPG
they run great at default clocks.. 550/815 and detect opt freq yeilds 562/848 (in SLI) but I have a feeling the cores maxed and stopped the tests.. I will test the memory more soon.. been gaming and making sure they're sound during long 3d sessions.. so good so far. whew. I was a little worried after hearing about all the peeps with issues with them. Anyways.. vmods soon.. waiting for a pair of vf700cu's in the mail.. should be here tomorrow.
EDIT: oh yeah, I got 9k on 3dmark06 and just under 15k on 3dmark05.. pretty good for stock! :D
just got my bfg 7900GTX in today. YAY!. got around 10000 stock in 05. then when i oced it to about 705/920, 4400 at 2.72 and got around 11700. running 03 and 06 tommorow.
o and i will be getting another one for sli in about 3 weeks.

The other thing about mods, dont do pencil mods as it is even more dangerous than a traditional mod. I thinks its ironic that users who are too afraid to solder onto thier cards (no offense guys) move onto doing a more risky mod with a pencil. Quite frankly, doing the 10k VR mod will give you more safety and better control over your voltages and its a simple matter of soldering 2 wires which is really very easy not to mention cheap.
i think the attractive thing about pencil mods for me is the ease and the fact i can get rid of it and still get warranty on the product........i have no idea how to solder........i mean i could solder bigger points but some of these gfx card or say PS2 solder points are so small there is no way in hell i would even consider that...........probably best to give it to someone who knows what they're up to i guess lolQuote:

I agree madgrav that solder is much better (its the only way IMO) but to solder successfully you need a very small tipped iron with a steady hand plus a good magnifying glass so you can actually see what your doing :D
Its also very easy to "undo" if needed without even leaving a trace but that takes a little more practice/experience then most ppl have :)
you're wrong. :]
I mean - in almost all means you're right :D, my old 9500@9700 was soldered like hell :). BUT - almost always (i mean if you're using normal iron, not hot air resolder station) you can see if the card was soldered. I know what i'm saying - i work in a computer company (www.angela.pl, www.topower.pl (still in works ;)) www.chieftec.pl, www.sunbeam.pl) and i have plenty of cards on RMA. With pencil/silver mod - you can undone it completely, without any marks :D.
And of course - its more dangerous than a solid soldered MOD :D
EDIT - i have a hot air station at work - but lack a skill to undone mod without marks - if youre watching good enough - you'll see the leftovers.
PS sorry for my english - its not my native language :]
Dave - yeah, these cards are /really/ nice.. and I love the smaller foot-print of them.. I can still see my mobo now. lol. and my chipset seems to run juts a tad cooler, not being smothered by video cards.. anyways..
EDIT: I feel leery about the pencil mod because you have no idea how much you're really bridging the resistor.. it's very "eye-ball and hope" type of cooking, if you will.. I guess if you clean the area well beforehand, and use a fresh pencil, you can eliminate some risk, but not all.. anyways, I am going to do the conductive pen mod to 1.4v after I let my cards break in for a week or two, with tape under it so I can pull it off when I want to... seems pretty tried and true..
My BFG 7900GTX seems to max out around 715/920 on stock cooling/volts. But my 3dmark05 score does not seem right. I can't even break 12,000 with my 4400 at 2.72. I get like 11952, but sometimes my score will jump down to around 10000 on a run or something. Its like up and down. I will get like one good run out of 5 tries. I dont know whats wrong. Then I up to around 730/930 and I start to get really weird purple shapes on Firefly Forest and my fps doesnt increase at all. Am I doing something wrong or is it my card?
P.S. I cant wait for the new RivaTuner, I hate Powerstrip.
You are pushing the card too high. It is throttling which means that 715/920 is too high. Try lowering those clocks until you can get consistent scores. Also the purple shapes are known as artifacts and they are a DEFINITE sign that you are pushing the core too hard. If you want to push higher you need more volts!
Yea, I knew they were artifacts, I had just never seen them look so weird. lol. Thanks for the help I will lower them to around 700/900 and post back later with the scores.
One more question, do you think my cpu could be bottlenecking my video card. I didnt really get the best 4400 out there. I can only run 3dmark05 at 2.7 and 1.74 volts. Do you think the video card is bottlenecked?
Got one of my EVGA GTXs to 695/880 on stock air/stock volt no AS5. Other is still in box awaiting PSU.
Temp is bout 68c load(20c room temp)
Ok, ran it at 700/900 everything went fine scored around 11600. Then I went up to 710/920 and 3dmark05 just quit in the middle of it and went back to windows with a box saying "Nvidia Driver not installed correctly" or something to that effect. My graphics driver was gone and resolution went back down to 800x600. I just reinstalled my driver, but I havent run it again. Whats the problem?
your card is not stable at those speeds...
So ~700/900 is your cards max speed without further modification
damn, that sucks. well looks like ill have to voltmod this one too.
::EDIT::
Most Stable score: 4400 @ 2.65 7900GTX @ 705/905 http://service.futuremark.com/compare?3dm05=1981881

EDIT:
Isn't 1760 MHz mem a little too low max - artifact free - mem clock? I saw you guys running them easily 1800 MHz without mods :|. Card watercooled, huge memsinks + 2000 rpm 80mm fan on the side of the card - so i dont think mem artifacts colud be caused by overheating.
@ REVENANT
"you have no idea how much you're really bridging the resistor"
Why? You can always measure it with multimeter - and you know what you have done. Then stick a piece od some tape on it, and voila :D you're done

revenant, please post your black XFX photos. Especially power circuit with capasitors. Thanks.
Just started testing a Club 3D 7900gt (cheapest I could find, because I'm cheap:D), the Coolbits "detect optimal frequencies" land on 552/ 784 @ stock cooling/ no mods. The core doesn't seem to go much further, but we'll have to see what water cooling and perhaps a Vmod does for it. Temps on stock cooler are about 48 idle, 63 load.
dang, those are pretty high temps. mine idles around 42 and load at 55.
also ive never heard of club, can you post a link to the card.
mmm is someone having this issue?
It happens before running either 3dmark06, after ending the benchmark (artifact less) this happens and Screen starts blinking, this also happens in 3dmark03, but if I can game with no problems any kind of game with the same Mhz or more (that SS was at 570/1600 to test) and i can easily play at 590/1800, this started yesterday when I was running 3dmark03, before that i had no issues at 615/1850 in 3dmark06, Im with stock cooling and card no mods (tryed mem mod and after messuring 2.2v The pencil was cleaned with Alcohol...
My card is Asus EN7900GT
no but i do get wierd problems like that. not exactly like that though. sometimes 3dmark will just quit and say my drivers arent working correctly.

Have/got the same issues as that. Appears to be related to the memory running at too higher frequency/voltage. Dropping the memory speed allows the core to run MUCH higher without any issues.Quote:

nice, you must make a good bit of money. lol.
tell us your overclocks for your leadteks, they seem to be the best.
Have ordered 2 XFX 7900GT cards (520/1500), I'll have them some time next week :toast:
After 1.4v mod to my XFX 550MHz version (black):

This is under a NVSilencer 5 rev.3 , temps are 34/45 on high fan speed.:toast:
The core will go up to 700+ but I've settled for a comfy 650/900 24/7 setting.

I make lil improvement 12534 Driver is XG 84.37 v2
But it seems my ram and cpu are my bottleneck.I'll try to set better my ram ,2-3 months ago i could bench with ram @280+ with no problems ,but now I can't ,that really makes me anger:mad:
Guys is it even worth water cooling an eVGA 7900GT CO SC that does 580(600 with delta)/1880 on stock heatsink IF there is no volt mods and no plans to volt mod ?
I don't think so. My stock cooler managed fine at 670mhz
It all depends on your prioritiesQuote:

Do the black pcb xfx's clock the same and take the same vmods?
Yes, mine do clock very well..totally different from the eVGA I had..even feels like better quality.:)Quote:
