I suppose it's still not a bad chip as I'd gained 800mhz over stock speed, just that it sucks when compare to your 2.95 on air!! which bios you use to achieve that?
Yeah I lucked out with a decent chip! I have a CDBHE 0526UPBW I almost ended up with the same one as you but decided to take this one insted cuz of the week. I was using the 623-1 with my G.skill LE's but I just switched to the 704-2BT bios and put my OCZ CH-5's in. My chip seems to run much better with UTT CH BH-5 ram I dont know why. I tried sooo many different bios's but landed on this combo and it works great! I am getting a Mach1 this week so I am hoping to get over 3ghz~!Quote:

Check link above for more benches.
Will try with more volts over the weekend. But i'd rate it a dam good core for those kind of volts.
I think the 704-2BT bios makes a big difference, on single core according to my testing there is an increased MB/s thruput shown in memtest 1.6, have you noticed this with your dual core njkid32 :)Quote:

Where did you get it from? It may not be the stepping.. I could always be a setting that is holding some people back.Quote:

Hey man dont think that way. The day I went to Fry's Electronics they had a little tag in the case saying coming soon next to the 3800. Thanks to Robert over at OCForums told me to go there. So I then asked them to see if they had any and the guy looked at the case and says "UH its says coming soon" not to bright there. LOL So I asked him to check the comp and see just for S&G's. And sure enough they had a couple of them. So when I was at the counter getting my chip I asked for them to bring out a few of them so I can see the stepping. And girl looked at me like I was from another planet. So when she brought them out 1 out of the 4 was a week 26 all the others were week 27 TPAW. What I have leared in the OC'in game is to always get the earlier weeks so I picked the 0526UPBW and lucked out.Quote:

Looks like i'll be testing out an E6 very shortly, just finishing up some sleeving on the new OCZ 520w PSU i'll be using, then putting the whole thing together and keeping it all under a TDX. I'll be sure to post screens as soon as I can!
NICE, hey why dont you post on this thread with your new chip. When you have it up and running.Quote:

I'm posting this from a laptop right now actually. I'm tearing apart a few systems for this build; i'm about to start taking the old rig out of it's case...I should be up and POSTing in about an hour.
PS: Should I flash my DFI board to the 6/23 BIOS (from what I can tell, this is the best for mushkin redline) before the windows install, or after?
Use the 704-2BT bios cuz its the best so far for my CH-5's! I have gone through many bios's and this is by far the best. Here the last one on the list.Quote:

apart from cl-2 ram setting, this babe don't like cl-2.5 at all. My XLPT are 300Mhz capable under winnie and 305Mhz under venice but only CL2 for this X2 only.
tried 8x300 , 9x300 , 10x275 and all no go for this chip....
shift from orange to yellow slot also same....now running at 11x245 cl2-3-3-6-1T but maxing out my TCCD over this range....
anyone had a clue or any experience on this ? cpu not max out yet, it climbs after dual priming every time and now at 11x245 @ 1.39v...
anyone ? or should i flash to other 623-1 to try it ?
Well, the first problems are already showing their heads, but thankfully its nothing a dremel can't fix; PSU won't fit into my V1100, and my old Maze4 doesn't fit onto the 7800GT. Looks like i'll need to order mounting hardware, or wait on DD's new 7800 block.
And....the fun begins.
Everything installed, all connections checked (twice!), and I power it on...
...POST!
Sorta.
It just goes to the DFI NF4 logo, then stalls out there. So I turn it off, try again, same thing. I turn it off, move my memory from slots 2/4 to just slot 4, and turn it on. Now I just get a series of long beeps. LED status shows it at 3/4; CPU.
Is this thing getting angry over the fact that I have an X2?
are 3 of your red LEDs lit???
if so reseat your video card and you might need to tilt it back ever so slightly.
Mine did that when I changed out water blocks and the stupid card was the problem.
Just put 1 stick in the second orange slot! That will fix it (I think). I have had this problem several time. If you are able to boot with the 1 stick then loas all your settings then save. After it posts shut it down and put the other stick in. If you are using a new bios and have stuff saved in the cmos reloaded then load optimized defaults and save over each bank in the cmos reloaded. NEVER use settings from another bios on your new one cuz it will cause problems for you.. Hope this helps!Quote:

Sandra's burn-in test, I believe, was calculating how many watts were used...
that's theoretical though.
I'm not sure if this has been discussed already, but how does one get pcmark 05 to run on a dual core?
I tried, and i got a mighty score of 1355. Since i got around 4200 on my old system, i suspect this isn't right. Other people have had this problem as well, so any tips would be appreciated
cheers
by the way, these chips are awesome. I was gonna get a 3000+ venice but i saw this for £200, and couldn't resist. Pretty pleased about that now.
My guess based on various sources, calculation, etc (keep in mind I am on stock vapochill now so there is nice review at XR which I can look at and semi compare) as well as kill a watt saying how much power is being drawn (300 watt dual prime -> 80 efficiency of PSU -> about 240W used inside computer -> bunch of stuff taking about 90 watt be it memory, PWM, HDD, etc since idle this machine is using up about 120w from line -> 80-90 watt idle)...Quote:

Running SP2004 right now @ 2.4ghz (240x10) @ 1.42v vcore. For some reason, the DFI seems to be undervolting; I had set the CPU in the BIOS for 1.475v, although VID special is set to "auto"...perhaps change it to 104%?
CPU is only at 42C though, and PWMIC is at 44. Ambient is kind of warm here today, so not too bad.
Do me a favor and list all your settings and hardware. It would help me a little more. From what I see you may need to increase your voltage to either your ram or cpu.Quote:

No it was from a GPU heatpipe kit. I had to cut it in half. I have ordered some of those copper HS's from OCZ so as soon as they come I'll get them on. The OCZ's are really good so if your going to put something on I would get those. Or just do what I did either way it will help!Quote:

i think it works, i think njkid has a vague belief in it as well (judging from his thread). Over the last day, i'm sure i've gone down from 1.58v 2600mhz stable to 1.55v 2600mhz stable. I'm aiming to get to 1.5v 2600mhz stable, then start increasing again.
Believe it man it works! Do a bit of reading and you will find out! If someone told me that if I turned my case upside down and it would give me more mhz I would do it! You see what I mean. You dont know until you try... GLQuote:

Are the E6 chips supposed to be better than others? I don't seem to be able to get anything stable on mine higher than about 260X10 @ 1.55v (max vcore in bios). At that voltage under load my cpu temp is 56°c and my chipset temp is mid 60s :(Quote:

Hmm, so, I got the overclock working after I slowed up the memory, and just last night I lowered the voltage from 1.5 volts to 1.4 and I made other changes, and I am wondering whether this is causing BattleField 2 to crash, could it be???
Thanks,

So short of watercooling or phase change or Minnesota winter with open window :D , I don't think there is a chance for me to break 2.8 GHz as it is.
I think the maximum safe voltage here is 1.55V if air cooling is used.
But of course I have not seen Zalman 9500CU that is just about to be released. We'll see if there is any improvement with that thing.
well i just put a fan above it (i was dubious at first, it didnt feel hot to the touch) but the PWMIC has dropped form ~54c to 42c under CPU Burn-in.Quote:

I have tried about 5 different bios's and finally landed on this one. When I was using my Venice and San Diego the 510-2Fixed bios was the best. So try a couple of them and see what works for you!Quote:

Why dont you do this put your ram on the 100 divider and see how high you can get your chip to run. This whole thing could be caused by the ram.. I found this in most cases of limited oc's.

so close yet so far from my dream goal of 300x10 1:1
For a 3800 X2 that is pretty good.
My X2 has one core thatll do 2.8 and one that will do 2.7, so 2.7 it is, though it need 1.6v to get there. Seems like a lot of the 3800 are doing very well
It seems to me that when the cores are very imbalanced like that, it may be a result of the IHS. Have you considered removing it? (i am assuming you still have it on).Quote:

I'd really appreciate it if someone can help me with my timings
I've gotten my 4400 up to about 2.6 using 3-4-4-8 timings, gonna see if I can cut down on it at all, also memvolt is 2.85, I'm currently trying to get my vcore higher but I can't seem to, also idling around 24-25C :)
hey. got my x2 3800 from monarch yesterday and i've been running @ 10x2800 2x superpi 32mb stable. i took this ssss (semi suicide screen shot) a couple minutes ago @ 10x290. the 12v is being reported wrong on the ite smart guardian, fluctuating wildly between 11.71 and 11.91. bios, mbm and my dmm read it at between 12.18 and 12.22v. when i get a better fan and/or get the chip burned in so i can use a lower vcore and/or get some watercooling i will go for 3gig. not too sure about popping off the ihs, but dont want to go any higher than 1.55v until i get better cooling. also, my 3dmark2001 score has dropped from 33k to 29k from when i had sandy @ 2800mhz, all else being exactly the same. is this normal, losing 3d performance i mean? my sandra and everest mem scores are the same, my sandra cpu score is about exactly 2x my sandy score, etc, etc. just 3dmark n/g.
