You can try flashing both BIOSes to 1850 and see if that helps. If not submit an RMA request.

You got me thinking when you said you just finished your new watercooled rig. What case are you using? Does it have Hot Swap bays and backplane like the Corsair 800D? I had a problem with my Corsair 800D when I first installed my MIVE where it would not recognize my RAID 0 config. I ended up getting RMA'd a NEW version of the backplane and it then worked great. Just a suggestion.
Oh, actually Corsair 800D is what i have. But thinking about it, both vertex 3 ssd are installed in the lower compartment and connected directly to the sata3 ports, and i've also tested everything with just them removing the other raid1 array that is connected through the backpanel. Thanks for the hint anyway deachus.
Hmm, I guess not the problem then. If I connected both my SSD's directly to SATA ports on Board and bypassed backplane then I was fine which is how I discovered problems with backplane. Corsair sent me the new SATA3 compatible backplane which works great now on the Hot Swap bays with my RAID 0 array. I use the Intel SATA connectors on the Board though.
What leave me wonder is that the very same configuration works absolutely smoothly with bios 1303 and previous ones (also with impressive raid0 performances). With bios 1409, and 1850 and intel controlled configured as raid, without touching a single wire simply my disks are seens as "not bootable".
This evening i'll try to reflash both bios with 1850. I also tried to load the latest IRST drivers during win installation but the issue persist.
Bingo:
Flashing both bios didn't worked.
I disabled everything on "onboard devices" and suddenly win7 booted.
Then i started to enable stuff again and isolated the problem into "oprom" option of marvell controller, if this thing is enabled it completely bypass the intel controller in some freaking way and prevent me to boot or install anything.
Just to let you know the only thing i have on marvell controller is a plextor DVD reader/writer (i kept the other two intel sata2 port for another possible raid1 array in the future).
Still wondering exactly why happened this.
Anyway thanks to Raja and Deachus for the support
Update:
1850 is something unbelievable.
With 1303 i got 5ghz 100x50 with 1,515 or 1,520 vcore, tweaking vccio to 1,175, LLC 75% and VRM fixed 350
With 1850 i get 5ghz 100x50 with vcore (auto) 1,480, vccio auto, LCC 75%, VRM fixed 350, everything else auto, gskill 2133mhz 9 10 9 24 at 1,5v, stable with superpi, prime95 Linx and 3dmark vantage.
Not bad for a bios upgrade, not bad...
That's weird but I am glad you got it figured out. I haven't had a chance to retest LinX and Prime95 with 1850 but I am running 5Ghz right now at 1.48 also with no issues. Will do a Prime95 and LinX overnight and see if I can lower vcore.
Honestly i'm still perplexed. I'll tell you that also new bios resolved some stability issues (shuttering) that i was blaming on Vertex ssd.
Bios 1850 is smooth, stable and awesome, at least from my perspective. I still have to figure out how/why Marvell controller was causing such conflict with Intel one (and i also have to move my dvd recorder on one of the intel ports).
How to enable Offset Mode?
In the Digi+ VRM Section of BIOS, Phase Control needs to be set changed from Extreme to Standard, Optimized or Manual in order for Offset Mode to become available in the CPU Voltage menu.

Tnx.
I have a question for Raja@asus,
I have not been able to use PCIex1 sata controllers on one of the PCIeX8/16. Is this a limitation of the board or is there any bios option that I can use to make it work?
I have a problem here, actually a friend of mine.
Every time he gets a time without touching the PC when he returns to play with it a PC is "freezing" (error AE), the M4E seems to not detect the SSD it uses, there to solve the problem he has to turn off the PSU and turn it back on, then the problem is solved. Does anyone have any idea what might be happening? Thank you!
It is. And a Vertex 3 120GB. A problem with that?
Mhm, yes, i suggest you to give a look both and ocz forum as much as a couple of thread on xtremesystems too (if i remember well).
Fact is: i had the same problem, OCZ released a 2.09 firmware to fix the issue. For me the fix worked. Mind that to avoid further problems OCZ reccomend to secure erase, format, and reinstall everything on the disk after you upgraded firmware, and for what i can tell it's actually needed.
just flashed new bios into gene-z and blk + memory clocking has improved
voltage control is great:up:
tks shamino for havin a hand in this board:up:
only thing missin is faster boot
VTT in the Maximus IV Extreme is? - vccio?
Another possibility with AE is if you set the motherboard to have CPU PLL Overvoltage turned on and put it to sleep (which it sounds like it is idling to sleep) when it tried to return it can't give the right voltage apparently and fails to come back. My only solution was to disable pll overvoltage unless I was going for benchmarking OCs, otherwise I keep it at around 4.5 where it isn't needed.
Hi guys,
Got myself the ASUS Maximus IV Extreme, installed it, hooked everything up and installed windows 7 64-bit.
All went great but i have 1 device that i can't get a driver installed for, PCI Simple Communications-controller.
Installed all drivers and utility's with the support CD, ASUS InstALL but no mather what i do this thing will not install.
Googled for it but didn't find a fix for it, so i thought why not ask here :D
Update: Never mind, issue solved. It was the chipset driver that wasn't installed properly
well zsamz i will get the mive next week
from some friends i got an amazing input on the board hope its a great one
i will keep my UD7 i love it
cheers
Sergio
He man. what are the points for a high bclk on den mive? am i only been stopped from the cpu or also the mainboard? could it be that the mive ist the bottleneck? i've only reached 104,7 to 105,2 with an mive and 3 different 2500k (horrible chips x51+x52). do you think its only the cpu or also some settings?
you need to find the right settings
having a good chip helps

post your settings maybe we find ..... somethin
Has anyone tested the 0654 Beta BIOS for the Extreme-Z yet?
I've tried shaminos tweaks. Thanks but that isn't the problem i think. I will try it with another cpu at the evening and will post my settings here. thanks a lot.
New 1902 Bios for M4E ;)

Few questions guys,
1.My NF 200 voltage is going from 0.000 to 0.007@ BIOS is this normal?
2.LN2 mode seems to be enabled? and its grey out like i cant disable it? how to turn off?
3. Chasis fan speed 1& 2 - NA?
BIOS version is 1204, is this BIOS any good?
Also did they fixed Intel RST issues or i should install them? i see Jmicron controler in BIOS, what is for? can i disable this ****? as far as i know the sata 3 ports are both Intel, and the sata 6 are 2x Intel and 2x Marvel (which i think to disable)
Did anyone experience this, mouse and keybord hooked up in the usb ports beside the ps2 port and sometimes the mouse and keybord power off for just 1 second and then come back,
everything works again but is very annoying
1. It is normal. If not used, NF200 is turned off.
2. There is a switch near Start button.
3. What do you mean by that? You have 3 wire fans connected and it's not showing speed?
BIOS 1204 is rather old, try newer.
I don't know about RST, as I don't use it. JMicron is for ESATA ports on the back panel, you can disable it, if you don't use it.
I did. And yes, it's annoying.
Can anyone PLEASE tell me how the *uck should i turn off LN2 mode???????? in BIOS i can't find the setting like 3 days already it says: LN2 mode - enable but i can't even enter that section...i already posted this at 3 different forums and still no answer...
Also in VRM options i can't find the duty control setting in order to change it to extreme :(
as has already been said, there is a SWITCH on the motherboard by the start/power bottom, just towards the bottom right of it. you can't miss it !!!!
sorry, I can't answer your other question, hopefully a pro will soon :)
Ok no worries, btw is 1 hour Aida 64 stability test enough for some general idea of system stability? i even included the HDD's :)
EDIT, Is 1.375 good vcore for 4.8? im semi stable at that voltage, what i mean by semi stable is that i havent have enough time to test my system, like 15 mins linx (all memory settings with SP1- AVX) and Aida 64 - 30 minutes/1hour tests.
Here are my settings,

Are this settings good? what would you guys suggest to change for better results/stability/vcore?
Also strange thing is that i dont see my SSD in boot options...(last pic) anyone got idea what is the cause for it? thanks :)
Note: I'm running with HT on.
Damn, fast error on OCCT, is this gpu related? im on backup crappy 8400GS atm, is this errror related to it or? vcore is (during this test) 1.395 in BIOS, @4.8....also OCCT show my cpu settings as unknown? : /

EDIT: Sorry for thread spamming guys.
well yesterday at 11:30 received this mobo and 2 chips random pick
a costa rica batch that stops on x54
and i still cant believe my eyes i got a x59 chip !!!!!!!!! yes it post and tries to go into windows but obvious i dont want to know the volts it may need and cooling
heres some screens of my first boot with my ASUS expert :)

I've seen "Dumo" post that 57x and up (provided the chip is capable) seems to require some kind of "cold" cooling for benching purposes so I'd be interested to know if the chip can bench 56x on water and or if you can get into windows at 57x? What is the max multi for the chip with PLL overide disabled? I also think you are going to like the MIVE. I'll look forward to more results from your new combo.
i told you asus is better:p:
told you the ud7 suks:yepp:
found a chip same batch as yours but i too bored with sandy to buy it
well on my UD7 boot at107bclk was easy here i dont get the skews now but i will
for now im happy with this

btw new bios sux 1902
my USB ports dont work, and stable benches gone...maybe its me but 1850 its a keeper
one thing i dont like is that all area around CPU gets hot that doesnt happen on the UD7, while benching i mean
cheers
Sergio
it would be very nice if ASUS can update efi BIOS on the profile OC saves...that one can save settings to a flash drive and also selecting the profile not the way that is now putting 1, 2 or 3
cheers
Sergio
He,he Sergio don't post all bad things about ASUS!
i will for sure still couldnt get pass 101 bclk on the mive while my asus do 107 lol but i have to admit that this board is fantastic, regulation is awesome and boots 2 times faster than my UD7 so fast man cant believe it
love both boards either way i got a good UD7
cheers mate
Sergio
for sure i will do a nice face to face on them
for now what i see is
MIVE and UD7
amazing efi bios - normal bios
voltaje regulation amazing - using F3H i have no problems but UD7 takes way more volts
HS near CPU heats a lot - NOT ON UD7
boots like a ferrari - UD7 not its slow at post and boot
small increments of volts on all - UD7 has big jumps
just 1902 gave me problems - UD7 all but F3H
so far thats what i found for now
cheers
Sergio

ok guys i will bother a lot as im new lol
tell me it tried my SLI of GTX580 on the NF200 and on native, well native takes my SAME OC i had on NF200 with more vgpu but SCORES MORE
this is on native (on native + NF200 takes 150+ points less)
slots 1 and 3 for me score better i think i heard this if u can confirm me will be awesome

Awesome cpu and mive there Andre:up:
Dunno about Z68, but with my B3 MIVE (old bios) maximum multi bios boot was 56X.
For 57X~59X I have to set turbos manually in bios to 57Xs
As long as boot posted past "AE" on post code reader then it good to go with multi you set in bios (same as "4E" on UD7)
well
swaped the UD7, MIVE took place now, have to cut 2 tubes as socket its 1,5cms to the right but all went good

Back on track now after switching from UD7 to MIVE , after reloading and all im happy . . even though this board is almost same with v core per oc , the llc control is much much better . . posting some shots of my 24/7 prime pass , so for meantime the v core looks high , but for 3d benching and memory benching all i need way less v core .
Was the switch worth it ? Hell Yea this is the 5 reason why I think " opinion "
1. Overall better support of board , bios updated regular
2. For me memory stability is better , board is way less stressed at 2133 cmd 1 , makes figuring a stable overclock a breeze
3. Run lower vcore idle cuase llc control is much better , no silly 1 - 10
4. pci express lanes have more space for multi gpu " no more hot crossfire sandwich " which ud7 sacrificed a space for a outdated legacy pci
5. rog overclocking from remote devices iphone android laptop , now i overclock while at work and i can reboot main pc from remote rog thru team viewer on bsod probelms
Bonus : Hot ass looking board red mania lol , lot of light's if thats your thing

enjoy the board bud:up:
if its good i always say its good if its :banana::banana::banana: .....

glad i didnt touch it after it came from rma

USB Issues...
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Today, i tried to reinstal my OS in order to get a totaly stable system before overclocking. So long story short, after the installation started, and when the "loading windows files" part ended, my keyboard and mouse lost power, like they where turned off....so i rebooted, and the issues was still there. So after that i entered BIOS, load optimized defaults, and restarted. Then the mouse and keyboard started to work again, but only till i run windows update, (SP1) then after the installation of SP1 was over, i had to restart in order to complete it, and after the first bootup the mouse and keyboard disappeared again, so i couldn't use them, the issues appear again, the lights turn off and thats it. Oh and yes i tried setting USB controller from PCH to NEC no use also...
'Now i cleared cmos, and load optimized defaults, selected Raid mode in sata options (i got 2x F3 in raid0) and i have enableled hot plug on my C300 in BIOS, everything else is stock in BIOS, but when i come to windows and even now my keyobard and mouse work, i wonder why does device manager show ! marks under every usb device, even after windows installed the drivers ?
Here is screenshot,
Attachment 118486
I must note that 4 days ago, i had anthoer error, Power Surge on USB hub port ,
Attachment 118487
note that this is not my picture, but you get the idea.
Tried to click on both options reset and close no luck at all the message appears again after 5-10 minutes i really dont know what should i do i am worried about this problem i tried to plug my keyboard and mouse to other usb ports i was still getting this error...clear cmos solved the problem, but now i got the other issues mouse and keyboard turned off 3 times in a row...
So this is clearly an Asus drivers/usb controler isues, and now i want to know is there anyway to sort this or i will have to RMA the board? other then this the mobo is almost perfect, please guys if anyone know how to solve this post back, thanks.
P.S. Im using 1850 BIOS, WIn7 was fresh installed, when my mouse and keyobard turned off, the USB power surge error was on my previous WIn7 installation.
did you install the usb3 driver?
the way i see it somethin went wrong during install
i would reinstall o/s;)
for those who seek a very nice 2x4 kit

but they were pushed hard on rex n didnt die:rofl:
Thanks for the replay.
Dude, before i had the NEC usb driver, and the issue appear, now i dont have and i got no problems. expect for 1 time in BIOS the mouse went off, but keyboard stayed on, and after i restart (get back in windows) the mouse started to working fine. Now i wonder is this an driver issue or maybe faulty USB ports/mobo? :( you guys got any idea how to test my mobo for short? (this was ponited from another user as a possible cause)
It was clean install of OS, i just installed it and that happend, (mouse and keyobard went off) but before i also had "power surge on usb hub port" error, on my previous OS as well. Thanks for your replay.
Please guys, post back any other ideas/info thanks again.
@psyside
What USB ports are you using? I had problems (stuff disappearing) when I was using USB3 ports 5-6 and 7-8. Then I moved to ports 1-2 and 3-4 (closer to audio out) and never had problems again.
Atm i'm using the ones closest to the audio panel, right above the audio, but i dont think its about ports, its more like controller/driver issue but if it is drivers issue then how the hell the mouse went off in BIOS,? something is terrible wrong on this mobo, tbh i never had my mouse or keyboard disappear, like you...they only lost power, (the lights went off and they where unusable) like they where diconnected.
And no i dont think i can rma it, because after they replug everything the mobo will work fine during their testing, because repluging everything seems like fixing the issues for short periods (few days) so i cant really point or prove my problems in order to get replacement, they will most prooly never experience the issue and will send my mobo back as a fully working one, instead of RMA :(
guys i cant make my eSATA ports work, what do i have to enable or install ?
***solved have to enabled JMB on bios
cheers !
Sergio
well i started testing BCLK so far its beating my UD7 so easy i cant believe it...
