Yea, I did a double take when I saw that..
No reason I can see but hey, it cuts their lead by 1.4 mil in one day and thats a plus.
The lesser work for them is a minus overall but hey, I'll take the 1.4 mil and smile!:D

Well, that's a huge one day drop. So I'm not sure I trust the numbers.
They're setting up a buffer, and going to go nuts in honor of.... December 11?
Wonder if it might be weather related? Lotsa folks in the midwest without go-juice.

A large power outage would have affected other teams as well, including ours. Their output began dropping on Sunday and really fell today. Very odd.

You could be right. Odd is right. Another project? Or did they yank their free BW?
-SS
I just looked at their website. They still offer free gigs for running WCG. I hope they weren't borging machines from a large institution that suddenly cut them off. I'll try to think positive thoughts.:D
We'll see what happens tomorrow..
Maybe a glitch somewhere and it will reverse..
they're buffering !!! watch out
Can a team like that really buffer? I mean could you get thousands of people to change settings in their PC when theyre probably only in it for free stuff, and not the DC itself.
Looks like they only got credit today for the Boinc client and not the UD client. Perhaps to help celebrate my reaching 200 million tomorrow?:D

I am in awe, Master.

One more quad for the cause
Just got going with another quad running 9x385 with the evaluation copy of Server 2008 64 bit. I'm going to see how this does "points wise" against my other quad at 3.6 with XP 32 bit.
EDIT: Here it is in action. It's in my garage right now with about 60f ambient.

We Broke Their Spirit! Chargeeeeeeee!!!!!!!
Actually, i think this is a maintenance issue with the UD server. Its affecting a bunch of teams. Not us of course. ;)
Link...
-SS
That might explain the drop. The UD maintenance period is over. So if they're numbers don't increase on Wednesday, then it's probably something else. Also, there were shorter maintenance periods last week which didn't seem to affect them that much.
That did give us a nice buffer of 3 million plus points. I wonder when the next maintenance will take place.:D Maybe I can crash their server.;)
DDTUNG:cool:
well, if all our farms made some DoS there...
let's stick to fair competition, we can beat em badly without any maintenance or whatever.
now now, no foul play :nono: we can beat them fair and square

If anyone else said this I'd chuckle and do a  but not you..
Honestly, I didn't know there were good and better steppings in the G0's.
Haven't really looked into it but from the posts it looks like 80% are excellent, 15% fair and 5% dogs..
I'm spolied I guess. The one these guys sent me is a gem.
I think in your hands it would do close to 4000 all day.
I'm just not up enough on all the settings to find that "sweet spot" so I stay at 3600..
All is not well.Quote:

Damn, I should have known that was coming from an Aussie!
Best thing you guys ever exported was Paul Hogan.
Everyone in the US loved the guy.
Now we also need steaks for this BBQ but don't buy them yet.
It will be a while before they are needed and we want them fresh!;)
yea, he married whats her name Linda something..The one in the movies with him..I didn't think she was that hot to be honest.
I think that he was not exactly a young guy then and this young slinky thing saw the kind of reception the movie had and sunk in the claws..and probably the lips too...:wasntme:
Even 20 years later they still love him here.
It's the manner..open and honest and that is a welcome thing to see in a person over here.
Agree, honesty can be a good thing. I was loved while living there (US - Atlanta mostly but traveled a lot) because they thought I sounded like Steve Irwin. I took this as an insult, but hey, when chicks at the pub asked if I wrestled crodiles, I had to say "Yes, we do that in Junior School"...
I've got some uninterrupted time this weekend, gonna look for 3.2 or so on this thing and see if I can't coax that 3600 to 3 GHz as well... Just the time, I never have it any more...
Tell me about it.
There's a few hundred dollars in sweat-bartered spalted ash and white oak begging to become my new case... just sitting in the dining room. Took me a long time to work that off, and it's telling me, there's a freaking drill under the tree, you just know it, rewrap it when you're done and start gluing us up...
I'm not sure I want to resist it, even though it's bedtime.
Dave! You were young once!!!
I don't do that anymore.
Had my shop at the house and when I left the shop stayed..
All built in's..Sold off the table saw, band saw, joiner,lathe,etc..
That plaque I did in the early 90's..
The guy on the left in the pic is a friend.
Full time job was as a fireman.
Bravest bastage I ever knew.
All of 5'7" and maybe 150lbs..
I'm not in that pic. I did that as a favor for the guy on the left.
The guy in the middle was the "Chief of the boat" on the Carrier Kennedy and was retiring.
My buddy was in charge of the retirement party.
He went to get a plaque made and they wanted $450.00 and 3 months
He didn't have 3 months and asked me to do one in the shape of the carrier deck as seen from above.
When it was done he asked me how much. Told him that was my gift.
Should have seen me trying to take down that hard maple to sit flush with the mahogany.
Took hours..The maple is like brick, the mahogany is like soft butter.
Came out nice and the smile was plenty of payment.
maple is such a nice wood imo :)
(thread hijacking ftw!)
When you stick a hamster to the persons head and force them to install and run WCG on their machine.
Then they are compelled to join XS and start posting in a frightened state and can not focus on a single coherent state, then after they are left sitting @ their PC, they continue to post in random threads inciting multi directional conversations with no single point of topic.
Hey man, in addition to that, it made me shave my head and start spouting 300 lines. No lie.
I've become known as King Leonidas of Finseal. Gotta love good old JVC, where I make Crysis, COD4, Halo 3, et cetera, et cetera... and those bloody Dell MediaDirect install packages-if you've seen one recently, I made it. Probably has my fingerprints on it, in fact.
Dave is the general, we are the grunts, DDtung is the Spec Opps, the rest of us for the most part are the grunts, though I think Eric/Njkid is a officer, with a few others. Me.........?? I have no idea, I just go do my own thing, but for the team so I am sorta mercenary of sorts.
I am one of the crazy grunts who just run and guns. I am still a noob at it all, but already piling money and time into it coz I enjoy it and see very worthwhile reasons to :yepp: :yepp:
Oh, and right now, only 33 empty bottles of booze...but this is just at work.
They beat us today:down: but we will bounce back tomorrow.
Three day weekend, time to clock...

Don't be discouraged my friends, we are in this for the long haul. They might win a battle or two but we WILL win the war.
Cruncher #2 is on the grid, which should double my output. Not quite sure why it took me so long to realize I have a perfectly good work comp that stays on 24/7.
Yes it is, and to prove that, see what happens when crunchers down't have enough "friends" around to keep them company?
This:

See, all the :banana::banana::banana: addicts at EasyNews have many machines to download the :banana::banana::banana: onto..
It's simple math..:D
:banana::banana::banana::banana: addicts :ROTF:
I am lucky enough to have 8 cores sitting at home keeping each other warm now (hardly need it coming into Summer though)...but I did allow this work machine to have a second core to keep it company also. But you are right, I think I need another whole machine just to keep it feeling like it is special :ROTF:
It is soo nice to see how we push eachother. Sometimes, as i read through that thread i feel like selling my body to get a new cruncher running :D
my 4 core keeps my single core lappy company as they site 3 feet apart and my gf's lappy with its HT talks to its self when its lonely though there is quite a party here with 6 dedicated cores :-P.
When I close the door to the office, the temp rises about 5-7c ;-)
I just got good news: that our beloved TP S.A. (monopolistic ISP & phone operator) will most probably activate my DSL line in the parent's house, where ill be spending Christmas... so no winter break from crunching, maybe 1-2 days to move. I have ordered an internet connection from TP S.A. some... 5 months ago?!?! they are lightning fast, so are their connections.
I'm looking to earn some holiday cash so I can replace this setup, I've found the E6600 no faster than my old OCed 3600+, and to boot I can't get it to OC a bit and it warm boots two times out of three. It may have something to do with the bad power in the area, but given my surge suppression hardware I think not...
I'm gonna go Spider platform. I'm just gonna stick with what I know, and put the E6600 in the kids' MSI. Oddly enough, theirs is ROCK SOLID and OCs like a dream...
I dunno, but this BadAxe is wayyyyy too temperamental for me. My RAM is good, I have a new video card, my power supply is fine, I just can't figure it out...
Well, I got another Q6600 up, and will be getting an opty165 up by the end of the week (crossing my fingers). So that's 12 C2D cores at 3.6ghz or higher, and 2 K8 cores.

Can anyone say hell yeah?
Hell Yeah!!
Now that's what I'm talkin bout.
Finally we're pushing some numbers again :D
