Let's take it from the start..

Everything started from this german company www.tagan.com ..:D

Two new models developed :

Any news about price? I find the PC & P cooling VERY expensiv :(

Looks nice but the package is overkill it will just add to the cost...you won't need to carry a PSU anywhere lol.

Other than the suitcase it looks really promishing.

Doesn't this run at 1100W all the time? if so this will increase electricity bills :(

Damn, they only had a few for Europe ... pretty lucky you got your hands on one :). Could you please take a few pics of the internals ? Any clue on who makes the electronics for these ? I'm guessing it's a new Topower design ... U25 / U35 / U95 all use two chopper tranformers BTW.

NO.

This psu looks similar to the Mushkin Enhanced 650W, which is also got 4x12 20a rails. But then they say the 12+12 are 44amps. So Im confused where do you they get the figures

This PSU can actually do all four rails at 20A a piece at any given time (and all at once if necessary). These four can not be 'fused'.

The Mushkin has four separate rails for when the 12V line draws <20A (each rail can do 20A at any given time, but not at the same time), but when 12V line needs >20A, all four 'fuse' into 1 44A line. This is for efficiency as very large rails are VERY innefficient at lower amperages. Under no circumstance should you expect to draw 4x20A on the Mushkin. That alone is WAAAAAAYYY past the 650W spec and not the design of the PSU.

Claiming an efficiency of up to 84% in full load, either the regulation is poor or we're dealing with awesome electronics.

I have the 900w version, unfortunatley mine is from a faulty batch, which is known to have a cold start issue, it is being collected and a replacement is already on it's way.

2 other issues that have surfaced over the past 2 days (I've had it for just over a week), the fan has began to make a clicking sound, the speed seems to fluctuate making a slight noise as if the voltage to it is being cut.

The second is that the rocker switch has stopped working, and the unit can only be switched off at the mains instead.

I do hope the next batch is better. I spoke to the UK distributer/service centre on Friday about the cold start issue (the other 2 problems had not surfaced at the time), he assured me the cold start issue had been fixed.


I guess I'll find out in a couple of days.

Well I've rma'd 1 unit already, recieved a replacment and other problems have arisen. It seems the 900w version has seriously exaggerated specs. I get lock ups in games and benchmarks when I overclock my cards using CCC, and this should not be the case as even the Seasonic was able to run @ 690 gpu and 800 mem. If i return to stock then I find things will run. There is supposed to be 18 amps on each pcie rail. There are 4 connectors for pcie, 1&3 on one rail and 2&4 on the other. I have contacted the retailer for an rma, so fingers crossed.

Hi,

Okay I ran some more tests tonight, I connected a seperate psu to the pcie cards, just to make sure that the problem was not something other than the psu.

The problem of lockups persisted, which left me baffled for a while.
I checked the temp of the 1900 mastercard and it was really high (would go into the 90's). So I removed the heatsink remebering that I had lapped it a couple of months ago and used a minimum of TIM. I found that the contact between the surfaces was not good and that the TIM (Arctic Silver) had cured in patches on the die and heatsink surface. Cleaned and then applied a generous amount, back in and temp at load have stabilised in the 60's. ANd the benchmark run fine now.

So IT WAS NOT the psu, I am sorry to have come to the wrong conclusion in the first place, sorry guys my mistake!!

what happened to the testing and results?

They finally managed to send me the spec sheet that I requested to see rail distribution, crossload requirements and thermal spec.

Except what they sent me doesn't have the info on rail dsitribution, crossload requirements and thermal specs.

I ordered the new OCZ...

Smart move.. if they feel like sharing the info you need.. that can go :banana::banana::banana::banana: themselves.

TBH, I have not come accross any cross loading requirements so far. However perhaps that's something that only surfaces when full power is demanded from a rail?

The only other multi rail psu I know of that can provide it's rails at full regardless of loading in the new Silverston ST75F, it was allegedly designed from the ground up for the purpose.

I think our friend above who started this thread may well have had the same issue I had with the first unit, the first batc had a startup current issue, which has been fixed in a subsequent revision, perhaps he's awaiting his replacement..

still go for a Pcp&C 850 or 510, due to sheer class of the product.

to be honest, how many real users would consder Quad SLI? ATM, Bit-tech say that X1900 XT-X crossfire is faster due to driver error ect.

also, i think the packageing is a complete over kill. In a Hiper Type-R 580W Modular, the packageing isn't as flashy, but displays more info, and at the moment, im using it as my tool box.

or perhaps is done for wives....you catch the PSU and you give girlfriend or wife the case (for jewels, make-ups...), so it seems you spend better your €€€
