Revision 304 will add Conroe support to the Intel 975XBX board. It adds 10 resistors and 2 capacitors.
This is definate information, not speculation. Suppliers are given a date of April 16 to begin recieving the new revision.

But is it the same board layout? Maybe we can vmod our boards to support conroe?

That Albatron board doesn't run Conroe either?? That sucks. You might just want to call some retailers and see if they have them/are selling them yet. According to that memo, they should have them/be receiving them as of this past Sat....assuming Intel didn't get back-tracked on them.

There's a post in this thread regarding ordering the 304 revision boards (I'm ordering one to throw an E6600 in). Apparently orders started being accepted (from the channel) as of *yesterday*. I was originally thinking in terms of a standard P-D, but with the performance of Conroe pretty much confirmed, I figure I'll order a 304 now, since the E6600 won't be available until June at the earliest (that way I can get my processor as a birthday present).
You haven't explicitly said one way or the other that I've seen, but can you confirm whether your Conroe does or doesn't work on the Albatron board please?Quote:

Otherwise getting a motherboard for conroe is going to be a pain if you have to try to get a certain revision rather than just a certain model number.
Asus P5WD2-E rev 1.03 is on the way. Confirmed. Probably changes the PWM buck controller to a new VRM 11 compliant component with 8-bit VID control.Quote:

It won't say so on the box, He/She will have to open the box, remove the static bag and look on the surface of the MB itself it should tell you which revision it is. Looks like motherboard makers will have to put a conroe sticker on the new boards, if you really don't need crossfire or sli, then a 965 chipset board will be the safest bet to get a conroe compatible board.
