You need to post pics of the board area around the cpu socket area so we can see what Vcore regulator is being used.
ok ill do that in a minute got to charge cam battery lol
heres the pics thanks alot..didnt know were to take pic so i took everything lol
so man did you find anything out thanks again
im searching mods for this mobo too... :)
I just booted mine up and jebus does it droop
Im really keen for one too. Anyone found one?
I)ickie
I need a vdroop mod also...
I can post photo's also if needed :)
Hey guys,
Just been looking at the non SE models Vdroop mod (http://www.techpowerup.com/articles/...otherboard/122) and it seems that it has the same "Analog Devices ADP3180 4 Phase 12V 28-Lead TSSOP PWM Voltage Regulator" as the SE. So we should be able to follow this mod if we solder directly to the legs. Alternatively somone could find a point of zero resistance to the pins in question and solder to them. Im planning to try it next weekend.

cool let us know how it goes
alright im prepping for the mod but i got one problem. Im a n00b and i think jaycar has given me the wrong resistor. I asked for one capable of 28kOhm but on the 20k setting on my multimeter it displays as 9. shouldnt it not display at all?
I)ickie
Perhaps you're taking the readings off the resiststor wrong or you got a bum component. Is it a trimpot? I spent a lot of time lastnight messing around with a couple of trimpots testing out different circuits on a breadboard.
Ok,
Well im pretty goddam sure that im measuring right. Its got a resistance on 9.42 on 20k and a resistance of 09.4 on 200k. isnt that only 9.4kOhms??? Im so confused maybe i should just go ask em.
I)ickie
if your asking me lol your asking the wrong noob hahaha hope you figure it out  :toast: :woot:
The voltage regulator on my P5P800 SE is the ADP3181, not the 3180..Quote:

That'll teach me to be stupid and ignore a last digit.
Its not all bad though because now i have a p5nd2 SLI. Hopefully im not gonna run into drooping to 1.24 when i set the voltage to 1.45 anymore.
One things for sure though my soldering skills are pretty good after that.

p.s. Sorry guys! Glad i could be the guy that learns the lesson instead of you!
Well I did the vdroop thing: checked the alternate points with a multimeter, solder the resistance to them and.. well.. nothing happen, got more juice allright but the vcore still drop to 1.24v..Quote:

Well..back on the soldering bench again. At least we got some experience now!
:woot: look foward to it

hi to all, i need this mod too. i've noticed that the ADP3181 is used on the p5wd2 and p5wd2-e, so maybe it's the same mod, but components are disposed in a different mode. i think that we must act on pin 17 and 18 with a trimmer, but does anyone know how many k we must set?
i've already doubled the capacitors and glued some sink on mosfets to let my cpu run stable at nearly 4 ghz, but i need droop mod to let my mobo and cpu run properly ;)
here is a pic of the mobo:

You tried that one already?
its pencil vdrop for p5wd2 but p5p800se is on the same chip
http://forum.purepc.pl/index.php?act...e=post&id=7331
can someone check it?
I did that one. I think it works because my vcore doesn't drop so bad anymore...
so, we have vdrop now :)
Does that mean that the pot mod from p5wd2 works on P5P800SE if you solder direct pin 17 and pin 18 on the pot?
yes
