My first DICE Container.

Just got my dry ice container from the machine shop. The shop did a nice job I think anyway, dimensions are perfect and I am happy.:D :D

Anyway heres a pic of it, its kinda dark but I will get better pictures later on. I am at work now so I cant do much.:)

I am a complete nob on extreme cooling as this is my first dry ice container and will be the first time I play with dry ice or any sub zero cooling for that matter.:) So please be kind and any tips would be appriciated!

Nice man! but for an accurate thermal sight.. place the probe in the base!

You mean drill hole in the base to place the probe orrr just drop the probe in the container so it sits at the bottom of the container where the dry ice would be??

Wall/bottom thickness?

Temp probe allways outside container, so close CPU's IHS as possible :)

Nice. The design is good. ABout the probe, drill a small hole big enough for probe to completely fit in THE SIDE of the lowermost button on the base. Glue the probe in there with some artic silver adhesive. This will give you good base temp readings. Then, wrap with some electrical tape to secure the probe cord around the base in case it gets jerked (it will ;)

Wall thickness is about 5mm and base is 7mm. I dont have any pics of the inside base but it is flat, no design there.

Thanks for the detailed description of mounting the probe correctly, I will get to it next time I am at the machine shop.

Here's a picture of it mounted on a 4600+. I will have some results later this week.:D

Nope, its a CDBHE.:)

Got to test my dry ice container last night and today after work. I am very pleased with it so far. Here are some results with a X2 4600+ cpu. It didint seem to have a cold bug:woot: :banana: :banana: , atleast up to -51 in the bios and -52 windows is the lowest I saw and ran without problems with HTT at 320x3.:D

i read a trick that can get you another
10-15 degrees temp reduction
if you try ether as the alchohol you should see a further drop.

beware you must have very good ventilation as ether is bad for your brain

and how about some 3d benchies? :D

I did a quick read on ether from google this stuff is nasty, I dont think i'll be trying it but thanks for the tip.

If all goes well with my GPU container I will have some 3D benchies later during the weekend.:)

Beautiful job my man. COntainer, insulation, and mounting all look fantastic. If your cpu can take those temps, I bet you will be going to 3450+ when you max it out.

What's killing your scores? SP 1M should be slower at 3.3Ghz...
Maybe memory?

These runs were solly to see how the cpu runs, the memory was on a divider. Just trying to get it all figuerd out before I get to 3d benchies.:)

Perhaps try lowering the multiplier and increasing FSB? (This is if you want better PI 1M scores..)

Well with coldbugged chips that aint gonna hapen. Higher multi and lower fsb.
