socket 939 right?
That is a large # jump from FX-60
This is one of the many reasons you shouldn't rush and buy items too soon :)Quote:

If the FX-60 clocks well, why wait?
If it's April, might be Socket AM2, and a Rev F part. Although on AM2, I would have expected 2.8333 GHz, in keeping with 1/2-integer multiples of 333. (Allowing 2.5, 2.6666, 2.8333, 3.0 GHz parts, among others) Inq story said the FX-62 would be Rev F for AM2, and 2.666 GHz DC. So maybe the FX-65 is a 939 part @ 2.8 DC, and there'll be an FX-67 @ 2.83 DC on Socket AM2 (new 940) ???Quote:

As for #-ing, looks like the DC FX line is using the DC Opti style of +5 per speed bump.
Hope someone will get their hands on one prior to release:p:
socket info would be nice, i think it should be new 940, i heard that fx-60 is the last 939 fx cpu
Nice... Wanna know what socket it will be. :D
socket AM2 will be out in april so I guess it will be an AM2 cpu. Maybe s939 too, who knows.
Fx60 and fx65 is nice, dual core is getting there at high end, seems AMD has a nice batch to get out. My 2550mhz x2 is good, but to run it at 2,8 or even 3.0 is simply awaesome for dual core. Mucho power to process.Quote:

Ah, the famous Phantom Edition ;)Quote:

So if the stock speed is 2.8 on this beast then these should be able to hit 3ghz with ease. I heard that AMD and IBM were working on a new process for there 65nm chips so who knows maybe these will be better than expected.
something tells me the fx-65 will still be 90nm ;)
Actually, that new process feature (3rd generation strain, via SiGe in the PMOS regions) is being incorporated into AMD's *90* nm process, in addition to being used in the 65nm process coming in H206.Quote:

As DSL (2nd gen strain) gave 24% perf improvement over NO strain @ 90nm, that leaves (1.5 / 1.24 = 1.209...) 21% improvement over DSL for the new SiGe 3rd gen, at the same power.
So, in theory:
2.4GHz DSL DC --> 2.88GHz SiGe DC
2.6GHz DSL DC --> 3.12GHz SiGe DC
all at 90nm.
yes, then add 65nm ontop of that. should be fun :D
I agree its a large jump but kind of makes sense when you look at it this way. Opteron single cores hump 2 at a time kind of like A64 3000+, 3200+ etc and dual core opty's go 165, 170, 175 etc. just a thought even though A64 DC doesn't go taht way.Quote:

FX-60 hits retail on 10 January 2006
FX-65 will be S939. The M2 socket part will be FX-67 for the faster RAM/HTT.
How sure are you of this? Seems like a possibility, but do you have confirmation?Quote:

Jan 10 is the official "launch date" of the FX60 - when they hit retail, however, is another story ;)Quote:

FX-65? 939 or am2?
AMD is launching Socket M2 on April (http://www.xbitlabs.com/news/cpu/dis...214062233.html).
They are (according to freecableguy) launching FX-65 the same month......
Somebody still has doubts which socket will FX-65 fit on? :p:
