Download Sapphire ATI Radeon X1800 XT PE BIOS: http://www.hardwareluxx.de/download.php?det=239
The news BIOS clocks the GPU with 700 MHz and the memory with 1.600 MHz.
Some guys tried the news BIOS, here a short list:
MSI RX1800XT-VT2D512E - works
Connect3D X1800XT - works
Holy !!! Nice. What 3dmark scores are you guys getting with this ??
Perkam
ATI Radeon X1800 XT default BIOS 3DMark05: 9040 points
ATI Radeon X1800 XT "PE" BIOS 3DMark05: 9860 points
About 10% performance increase.
Oh my !!! 800 points from a bios flash !!!??? Thats nuts.
Should be easy to get to 10k ? No?
Perkam
hmmm..should I flash my Connect3D :D kinda worry that it would **** up my card:p any1 here tried it yet?
I have to wonder, is the PE doing 700/800 on SAME stock volts as a regular XT or is there perhaps a slight voltage increase to keep it stable at the new speeds? 700/800 is nothing to get excited about as you can get this from overclocking through CCC without issue. This is good so you don't have to overclock through CCC but instead have it default to those speeds. I would still rather see a bios editing tool that lets us set our own volts and speeds for a flash.
Thanks for the link though.
some with the bios loaded on their cards open ati tool and see what GPU volt is 1.275v ?
yes that is what I am wondering. As well, check the bios build date through the information tab in CCC and let us know what you come up with. I know for a fact my card cannot do 700 on stock volts if memory is at 800. It will play games np but benching, especially in 01 will sometimes lockup. Setting the core to 675-682 isn't an issue at stock volts when memory is at 800 (792 actual). I wonder if this new bios actually sets 800 at 800 or if it also defaults to 792 actual. These are questions I want to know before I flash, otherwise I have no problem doing so. I would like to backup my current bios for safety however ATI Tool no longer supports this feature on X1800 cards till the issues with the feature get sorted.
What I am excited to know is whether this bios is simply nothing more than a stock clock increase or if it perhaps has some tweaks and modifications to make it run better/more effecient all around. That would definately be sweet as the PE will not be considered the highest of the highest for ATI Cards. You would think something more than a simple clock rate increase would be apparent.
I know at 700/800 I get 9.7k not 9.8k so I don't know what is going on there.
Right now I don`t know anything about higher voltages.
What I`m wondering about is, that Connect3D and Sapphire tell different stories about there ATI Radeon X1800 XT PE cards.
Connect3D says that the ATI Radeon X1800 XT PE has a different layout and 1.1 ns chips. Sapphire says that there is no difference between ATI Radeon X1800 XT and ATI Radeon X1800 XT PE. Same memory chips, but higher GPU and memory clock speeds.
Please someone test this and let us know if there is a voltage change as well...
Dynasty, have you flashed this bios yet? Anyone manage to get their current stock bios off their card for backup?
LoL Everyone is dying to get exact information on this...I know I am...
Although I don't want to mess my card up for I do not have a backup at the moment...
eva2000 since you have a HIS like I do...you can go first LoL
If i try to flash my Sapphire XT i get a "P/N mismatch", so nothing happens. Do i have to check "Force" in Atiwinflash? (it's unchecked by default)
I am going to let the more experience VGA BIOS Flash users try this first and get the correct way of doing so.
I don't have my Connect 3D with me its back at home, im at work. :)Quote:

ah nice1! Please do let us know what you come up with! I will flash as soon as I have a few questions answered above.
Yes, you will probably have to force the flash as it is checking for a specific part number which it isn't finding. I have to do this all the time when flashing third party firmware on my DVD burner.Quote:

I suspect we are going to have to reinstall drivers after this aren't we as the card is going to show up as something different. What I wonder is, does the 5.12 cats even have support for a OC/PE card?
Is there a BIOS Editor that we can use on the new BIOS to maybe change voltage and such on the card. But I also want a way to backup my old BIOS as well.
Yes, you have to check "force" to flash with ATIWinFlash.Quote:

Think ill give it a week and see what results are like on Sapphire, bit scared of somet borking.
Yeah scared isn't even the word...for just spending $600 on a card and only having it for a little over a week now...
There are bios edit pgms out there, but I still have not come across oneQuote:

Ideal would be makers of RaBiT or radedit, to make an
newer version with more edit features like what nibitor or nv bios mod has.
Edited: Maybe Monster can make bios mod util. for X1800 cards. :)
Well I have a backup of my old BIOS now. I get the same mismatch error as well. I am wondering if we have to do a Force Flash on it.
read above, yes you do have to force flash. After that it will take it.
BTW, how did you backup current bios? I want to try to.
