Golden FX-57 dead - another DFI Expert victim?

Really bad news, my golden FX-57 (that do more than 3.900mhz benchable) just die after a few hours on the new DFI Expert...:mad: :mad: :mad:

There are any physical damage, but the cpu is really dead test it on another 3 boards, just don't boot and turns board down.

I don't think I ever get such great overclocker/non codbuged CPU like this ..this is really frustrating :mad:

It is not the first time that happend (remember OPB's.) my previous FX-57 run on the SLI-DR for many months on phase without any issue..

So may advise is : for now stay way from the DFI Expert if do serious overclocker ..or at least do not put valuable and precious CPU's on it..

I hope DFI can give a convincing explanation about this ..

Awwwww man I fel for ya I really do, 'luckily' my board just blew up.

I wonder what the heck is going on right now.

Does anyone here ahve any direct contact with DFI?

Can someone please look into this - the best thing DFI could (should) do right now is IDENTIFY AND ADMIT THE PROBLEM - re-call all the boards and replace with revised boards FREE OF CHARGE or offer refunds or non-EXPERT boards as replacments.

OPB had a pre-release board. I don't think there have been another CPU kill with a retail Expert. The other(s?) were with the RD200 board.

Pedro, can you take a DMM and measure what voltage the Expert delivers to your CPU socket?

Post piccies of where we can do this please - also is it normal for the voltage reading in the BIOS to the vcore fluctuate?

I thought this 4-phase distribution system was supposed to get rid of all teh instabilities?

sorry for your loss (that baby was exteme oc, and expensive one ).
like dumo mention, the cpu R.I.P issue was in the pre board, i try 2 experts and no such issue .
even do, that is wird coincidence, cpu work great, and then new board and boom cpu die :lsfight:

Sorry to hear you loss! Something is really odd with those DFI boards lately - I lost 2 chips on an RDX200-DR and now all xpets deaths too.

Man this was one sweet CPU you guys had!

Thats horrible. Guys are losing expensive CPUs and not cheap mobos here...are DFI gonna compensate them for what looks to be their poor attention to detail?

I bought a dfi xpert too it arrives tomorrow but i´m afraid of killing my 3ghz stock cooling opty.

May be a concidence, but I have the cpu on the old SLI-DR on the same exact conditions no problem at all
Change to the Expert to have more space for the vid cards on SLI than the cpu die..
May be a coincidence ..but I will not risk again to put expensive cpus on the expert until these conicidences are plainly explained ..

what I found out on the RDX is that when you switch CPUs on the RDX board - no matter what vocre you set in the CPU VID CONTROL - the first boot into Windows will be @ 1.55V plus whatever CPU VID SPECIAL CONTROL is set to.

If for example you set 1.3V + 112% you get way over 1.7V in actual voltage.

If you had just switched CPUs on the Expert - if I understand your last post correctly maybe there is a correlation between the Expert and the RDX.

I have a EXpert - and will look if there is something similar like that

EDIT - Expert does not have this problem

Mike, just for clarity on my part:

Does that mean if i buy that motherboard and a brand new CPU, build a system and boot up, that my warranty on CPU is automatically voided because the motherboard supplies it with 1.55V?

Pedro,

What VDIMM and VCORE were you running when the CPU died, it might be one of the common causes of a Rev E die suddly dieing due to the mem controller getting burned by High VDIMM and Low VCORE...

A sad day it is, I was really hoping to see you guys molest the orb with your Cascade and cards. :(

Man, this makes me nervous. I have a FX 57 and a sweet clockin 4600 x2 both riding on a pair of these boards:hm: I'd like to think its really not a big deal cause there are always CPU deaths when your pushing the limits....and a lot have guys have moved to the expert, so I'd figure I'd see this. But, I'm going to sacrifice a chicken in the backyard just to be safe:)

Lol - good question - let's ask AMD what they think. It's only on the RDX - I imagine DFI will quietly fix this with the next bios release.
