the guys over nForcersHQ are doing some bios moddin'..
could it solve the 200MHz limitation?

Hmmm, sounds interesting. Yeah, I bet it could easily solve the 200MHz FSB problem :). Anyone with a A7N8X wanna test it out? :toast:
They are testing it... we're all waiting up tonight for results. :-)Quote:

I can test it as soon as my extra BIOS chip arrive, it's late...
Here's the modded BIOS that allows chipset Voltage control!

Awesome if it works out for you guys with this mobo!!! :toast:
No report on raised FSBs yet, but the BIOS definitly works at least. :slobber:Quote:

Well it will be awesome for ya's if it turns out to help raise the fsb... there are a few guys that can raise theirs without this mod, they may even get better results. :toast:
i downloaded it, didnt flash it yet, i got a history report due friday and i want a working comp untill then :D
I flashed to it. I was at 200 before and I'm still stuck at 200 dual sync:mad:. I have it at 1.8 too...
I am using it now (1.8v). 3dmark still unstable but I can run prime95 at 200fsb which I was unable to do before.
I will test this in a bit... I'm hooking up my pelt to my mobo tonight. Waterproofing it right now (waiting for it to dry).
raising the chip voltage doesn't make any difference.. at least for me :(
Well thats not fun :(. I wonder if the option actually works? Maybe its hidden because its not actually operational atm?
yeah.. maybe.. but lucky ppl who own the 'miracle' board that can run over 200MHz claimed that it works.. 225MHz!
now lets see the what 'Platinum Plus' can do with his a7n8x :D
OOO baby, I can't wait. I'll be doing it today. I had to let the liquid electric tape dry last night, and the fumes got to my head (so I didn't put my pelt on the chipset). I WILL do that today though for sure. :) Gonna shoot for some horrendously high fsb speeds.Quote:

No love for me either:( but since its there, hopefully Asus will open it up in thier future bios release.
i believe epox said they will be adding an option like this, but it requires pcb changes. figures.
I flashed with this new bios, and also tried the max of 1.8, and it did not give me access to any additional performance FSB multiples. I'm still stuck at 3dMark of 18,201
IMHO the Asus has a disadvantage in relation with the Abit and EPoX Board. It uses the older 2-Phase voltage regulation which isnt so good.Abit and EPoX make some time now use of a 3-Phase VR what is fundamentaly better for overclocking...
But i hope im wrong for you guys ;)

I'm gettin confused
I thought that the main problem with overclockin this board was dependant upon which capacitators it had.
i.e - the Nichicon boards being the ones you could heavily increase the FSB, and the Rubycon boards being the ones that become unstable at 200FSB and above.
Is this not entirely correct? I didn't think that bein able to increase coltage on a Rubycon would make any difference.
My board has Rubycons and I'm stable at 190. Not tried to increase voltage or do any other mods until my crystal orb arrives and memory coolin kit.
I'm interested in knowing the score though!
I wonder if the dead A7N8X issue is related to the Rubycon caps dieing..?
Oh no! Please don't say that. I got rubycons. I hadn't heard of any dying, just that they couldn't be pushed as far as the Nichicons. I'll keep a look out. I've only had the board a week so I may try and blag a refund/exchange yetQuote:

No, plenty Rubicon owners have reported good overclockings, including 220+ MHz.Quote:

Does this mod works? I am stuck in 192FSB too. Anyone get any improvement, please post.
What mod? The capacitor issue is because boards are shipping with different capacitors, but my conclusion is that it doesn't matter.Quote:
