Anyone ran SpeedFan on their Expert? I get a serious crash every time - not just a reboot, but a full system shutdown.

Report it.
I also get this. I reported it to Alfredo, and tried to send him some debug info but the tool to generate that also causes me a hard crash.
We eventually figured out that when SpeedFan or any other program (Sandra on its mobo info screen) tries to scan the SMBus, it powers down the machine. He told me to use the /NOSMBSCAN switch to prevent SpeedFan from scanning this area. I did, and I still get a good amount of sensors to monitor.
If you look in your Device Manager, under System Devices, you'll see a node for "NVIDIA nForce PCI System Management". When you view the properties of that, it will say "no driver loaded" (which is normal -- my Chaintech VNF4 says this as well). On the Resources tab, there are 2 I/O port conflicts, however: $1C00 and $1C40. Alfredo and I hypothesized that when this address is scanned, it causes the shutdown. He thought it was a BIOS bug. I sent email to DFI tech support and posted on DFI-Street, but no response yet.
I haven't tried any newer BIOS than the 11/02 it came with yet. Also, I had an idea to enable my Serial and Parallel ports (which I disabled in the BIOS) to see if that had any affect on it.
Let me know if you figure anything more out!

i did the same on my rdx200, i haven't tried it since getting an eXpert. On the rdx200, i couldn't even boot into windows anymore, since it would crash the opsys on going into windows, and it would even load in safe mode, so that crashed as well. i was able to remove it from windows debug mode though.
Happend to me also. I'll just use Smart Guardian instead.
i use smartguardıan too...
speedfan is bad for expert board :P
