read....
note this happened on a Hyper 6 with the windows open.
nvm
I told you guys to try to stick under or around 1.6v.. but noo....
They had to crank it off the starting blocks...
1.7v on air is really asking for trouble. But the way it burned sounds like poor IHS contact. I mean even Preshots dont do that. Heck even the old school athlons didnt do that.
imo 1.7V which any cooler is asking for trouble.
both my opty 144's had a mind of there own soon as the volts got to 1.65V
shame to loose a nice chip :(
AMD becoming like intel can't handle volts.. I miss good old days of 2.2 volts though tbred no problemo.
my fx-51 took 1.8v fine for a few months...then i killed it trying to take the ihs off...(ceramic cpus crack when u do this!)
ALright alright. rub it in. But on another note. my x1800xl is screaming! 654.75mhz 1.225v core/ 756mhz 2.2v mem on air nonetheless.
we are not rubbing it in, we are just saying that we warned you before hand...
my cpu says your cpu is in hevan, he just got an e-mail and will be visiting soon :D opty abuser!!! lol
1.7v on air?
you were asking for it
did you happen to look at temps in the bios before booting into windows?Quote:

what was your Vdimm at the time?
lol. I haven't been on here in a while. I underestimated this new chip. My venice likes volts around 1.7v I didn't come on here to get flamed. the way I do things is start high and work down. some start low and work up. we are just different. :) I learned a lesson the hard way and I encourage you all to do the same.
