..it's FX....but it's not a CPU....let's rock the new GSkill TCCD kit !!!
Hi everybody...:)
Topic title says all....but if you want to take a look at the mysterious modules on my test rig.....well...here's a shot..:)
http://forum.overclocklab.net/images.../whoareyou.jpg
Please pardon me for the bad quality...was out of focus...but I also thought it can even add a mystery veil on what I was testing right now... :p:
For sure you're not interested in the Ps2 port or in the Xp90C heatpipe zoom...:D:D
First of all I have to say I'm very proud to have put my fingers on this dual channel kit from GSkill.
It's not first approach for me with GSkill, after I had the pleasure to reach the WR of Bachus_anonymous here in XS forum with my 325 mhz 2,5-4-4-8 on GSkill PC4800 LA.
But I really appreciate also the fact that after oct 11th when GSkill rep presented this:
http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums...ead.php?t=76543
only 2 wks passed by...and Perhaps there's only me in Italy to have the chance to rock the new GSkill products....I'll do my best...any suggestion is welcome ...:)
So...here we are....let's stop the chat and see what we have here.
First impression is a little strange...used to handle not dissipated modules from GS, here I'm in front of a heat sinked kit....that's new for GSkill but there's always explanation....
*** Announcement ***
- G.Skill designs new look for heatsink to celebrate the year anniversary -
29 Aug 2005, Taipei
G.Skill is pround to celebrate his first milestone in Extreme Memory, 1st year anniversary. G.Skill add all new look heatsink to most memory modules since September 2005, the product serial number is 05/09. AS some users request, we will provide non-heatsink at the same time.
that's how they look like...from GSkill website:

Another things that catched my attention is the label.....Only ddr400 2.2.2.5 ....so...I have never seen a TCCD whichever brand it was running only @ 200 mhz.....and for sure I wont' test any of them @ 200...for these purposes there's a lot of low cost, no brand, no clock, no at all modules...
So...let's go with 210 at least...:D

I mostly appreciate the straight alpha timings that can be kept....we are just at 10 mhz more than default...but Trfc=13 (vs. 14 on my 4800 LA), Max async latency (m.a.l.) = 7 are quite good anyway...:D
A doubt scares me  ....does the label means tha I won't see 300 mhz 1t ??
naa...I cant' believe it ....but everything has to be proved...so...that's first attempt...:D
http://forum.overclocklab.net/images...8_25-4-3-5.JPG
just a 16mb to start......and any doubt is killed..:D:D
So...at this point...let's go over...we are just a Vdimm=2.7 +0.2 enable...let'see what's coming next..
305
http://forum.overclocklab.net/images...8_25-4-3-5.JPG
same timings...but stable on 32mb...
Read preamble (let's try to lower to 5...I really thought it was already there...but it may be I had a hit once more on BIOS screen and put it on 5.5....no matter...)
308
http://forum.overclocklab.net/images...8_25-4-3-5.JPG
I just had to push up a little the voltages....for 308 I needed 2.8 V +0.2 disabled.
First impression is good....with medium tight timings I passed the 300 mhz...so there's enough food to feed many people right ?...
So...if they're good for 30x...why not stress them @300 ?
let's see some adjustment....
Trfc (will it keep 13 ?)
Trrd (will it keep 1 or 0 ????..... )
Max Async latency (what about a 7 ns ??)
mh....does it work ??....
Think so..
:fact:

Nice...really really nice....
So guys...that'all for the moment....these days have been really busy with X2 test, FX test and so on....I still have tonight to take other shots.and then I'll take some days to be also a good father and husband.... :D ..but work is still in progress, and test to be performed are all in my mind...first of all as everyone is thinking of....Trcd=3... :slapass:
So.....stay tuned if you want....you're the welcome...
