It's been a while since Intel released Pentium M, and not much has happened since then. Some minor improvements and a doubled cache (Dothan).
From what I've read it seems that Yonah is just a dual P-M Banias with improved SSE and FPU and a 166mHz quadpumped bus.
Will you guys buy Yonah, or will you wait for Merom (4Mb L2)?
If Yonah fits in my CT-479 adapter Im on it!

i dont think that will happen, but i'm hoping too. the reason we saw a 479 to 478 adapter i think, was because the pin layout was more or less the same, but just in different positions. i.e. both architectures have 478 pins, just in different setups.
lga is another story.
for some reason, they talked still about socket479 at IDF..
i think there is a very narrow chance that yonah will work with ct-479.
but IF it works, i'm getting yonah straight away :)
i hear there'll be an adapter to 775..but my source isnt so solid so i cant back that up w/anything

It will come in many varieties including a ultra low voltage version for dual CPU use. It may come in 479 but I am not positive. I have not seen dual cpu 479
Motherboard makers are already building limited boards.
I so cant wait to unleash FB DIMM's on you guys.
From what I've heared Yonah is _not_ going to have EMT64, that's pretty weak IMHO. Merom looks more solid.
Yonah isn t supposed to use a new chipset ?
Personnaly i heared about a new 945 chipset, 2 versions will be available (with or without vga inboard)

How far away is FB-DIMM? A year? I know it's impressive, but I don't see it becoming mainstream for at least another full year. DDR2 is just beginning to catch on...

I cant wait to see if those new improved transistors will make these the most overclockable cpus ever..
I dont buy new systems very often, but the Yonah or Merom may be a reason to do so. But ill decide that when I see how the Yonah overclock, if I dont get impressed ill just wait for Merom and compare the two.
FB-DIMMS looks like it will hardly be of any benefit to end consumers like us.. It's more a server and database thing, based on what I've heard.
