As a rule of thumb, unless you are benching apps that require older drivers you should always stick with the newest release from the manufacturer. Afterall they dont just release new driver revisions for fun, they are released to fix bugs or support new games/hardware.
Compare them on the orb. The people that try to go for #1 usually go through tons of drivers to try and get the best drivers. The person on 3d01 with the best score for the 5600 used the 7189 drivers.
You also must take into account that benchmarking performance and game performance may not necessarily go hand in hand, especially if you are benchmarking something like 3d01 which is a little more primitive than the latest gen games.
