And what about DDR-800 or DDR-1066?
If there's anything at all to their PR system it does not look so good.
I like the looks of what's coming. :D
Especially since DDR2 is capable of some incredible timings at DDR667.
looking good AMD :) i mean 333fsb and 667mhz DDR is exactly what we've all been struggling to achieve with DDR1.
So imagine what a little o/cing will do to this platform? oh its all fun :D

The only thing we need is motherboard support.
with the way DDR2 is going I would sure hope it is going to be 800 mhz
and dual core on all chips would be a nice touch.. But I heard it might be a couple more months after that...
well i like this but why 90nm???? if intel is chaning to 65nm this january they should move to the smaller process quickly too
Maybe because they don't need to. Might as well milk 90nm and refine 65nm until then, just like they did with the 130nm to 90nm transistion.
so you expect a jump from 90nm to 45nm?
They just spend lots of money on a 65nm fab in dresden, guess it will take a while before we see the results.
When did I say that? I said they would milk 90nm and continue to refine 65nm. When they NEED to switch, they will.Quote:

Yeah I like AMD's choice of 333 & 667...sound a perfect combo to keep intel just enough behind... how it will OC?? With DDR2 doing 1000MHz there are real good chances of OCing provided there are good boards to support it. Also hope dat AMD's new Fab keeps costs lower.
AMD is pulling way back from the value segments, I don't expect chip prices to fall regardless of manufacturing or yield efficiencies. AMD needs to make some big profit to pay down debt and reinvest in R&D as Intel is upping the ante in the coming years. Expect to pay an average of 5% more per chip for each tier... (so the high end chip will be 5% more than it was in adjusted dollars today)....this is barring any price war moves from Intel... Intel is happy to not rock the boat as long as AMD doesn't make any major market share gains, slashing prices hurts them too.
aja, he said that RAM is going away, which I have also heard.
DDR2 is capable of much more then cas 4-4-4
I have some DDR2 that literally costs less then $120 per gig, and can do cas 3-2-2-0 up to 350+ without much hassle, and with complete stability.
I have another set of DDR2 that I can get to cas 4-2-2-4 at 400 rather easily.
the day DDR2 comes to A64's, is gonna be a huge day in bandwidth.
A64's have been able to hit well over 400 HTT speeds for a long time, just been held back my DDR1... but even then, its been able to break the 10k barrier.
imagine what kinda benchmarks we will see, when some of the best overclockers, get thier hands on a good A64, and good board. ;)
So first generation m2 fx's will be single core? will this be an m2 version of the fx-59 like they did with s940-->s939 i wonder or will it be fx-61.
i thing UnG they will lower the prices a bit.... look the 3700 now very cheap and is a fine processor when they move down to 65nm we are going to see them @ the same price or maybe a little bit more expensive cuz is new technology but then they will get cheaper as always....
2Q06 ? :D
I guess I better start saving now ! lol
This is right now. 6-9 months from now I believe it will be very, very different. True, capacities are going through the roof (512 megs on one chip @ 90nm), but latencies are not because of die shrinkage and fabs that cannot properly operate at these sizes. Why do you think coldbug exsists? the fabs cant "see" what they're doing; most fabs today are only rated to do 150nm; in essence, they're being "overclocked" and the result is hurting us.Quote:

Clocked at 2.67
I was expecting 3.0, oh well
I was hoping for M2 to run at 1Ghz and still out perform an FX-57 @ 4GHz.. and still can clock to 3.5Ghz... :D
I was hoping for it to stroke my ego....
