My previous X2 4200 did not like chipset voltage anything lower than 1.70v, had to stick with 1.80, same as LDT...had to use 1.50v, otherwise I would get random BSOD and reboot, so I assume this 3800 is going to require the same high chipset and LDT for stability, but I'll crank them down to see what's up.
I dont' think I'm going to remove the darn IHS on these 3800 to gain a few mhz ever again LOL I saw absolutely no differences when I had my very first x2 3800 couple months ago, only gained about 20~50mhz by removing the darn thing, that old 3800 also clock about the same as this one. The 4200 I'd gained almost 100mhz by removing it, though I was having all sorts of memory controller problem afterward, these Ballistix wouldn't work on that 4200, for awhile I also thought my Redline and Gskill were bad but didn't realized memory controller was the problem, basically just came home from work one day and the pc wouldn't boot anymore, put the 4200 cpu on a brand new mobo with same result so it's dead for sure and $500 went down the drain just like that :stick: I'm still debating if I should get an FX55 or 57 SD to see what can I expect from it under a single stage phase and see how far I can push these Ballistix.....decision decision.....
