How many of you can afford a 7800gtx or r520 to begin with? I dun mean you have a saving account, I mean you or your parents would allow yourself to go and buy one if they were available, that also means a wife..

I can afford it, but I won't likely buy one unless just for benching and resale...
I have two children and some serious bills to pay, so i "settle" for the upper middle range.
I can afford it, I can afford a new rig. I just dont see the point unless this one is on its last knee's and cant play the games I want to and considering I havent played any 3D games for 2 weeks looks like the PC wont be stressed at all for the foreseeable future :)
I have the money but refuse to spend it on the card, because:
- I am still on AGP and NVidia and VIA are holding up my PCIe switch
- they moved some of the video/2D acceleration to the 3D engine which at least causes more power consumption and usually fan noise when using it and most probably causes extra trouble for Linux/FreeBSD
- see 3dcenter.de for bashing of the texture filters in the GF 7 and the inability/unwillingness of the drivers to actually run in highest quality settings when those are selected
nol...i've put in my vote...but what do you hope to accomplish by being overwhelmed by the no. of ppl who can ;) ?
Perkam
There are votes for people who can afford and a few in the thread have said they won't though. Not everyone is going to buy a high end of the r520. i just would like to see who has too much money.
i have the money even for crossfire but i'm saving to start my own bussiness so i can earn money and buy more hardware :)
I can and I probably will. 2 kids and a third on the way in about 6 weeks. I just work weekends when i want new parts.
I have the money but I don't plan on spending it for another 31 days...
Ati has till then to get me to spend it on them...
I bought a GTX because it seems only single card that plays BF2 all high well at 1920*1200, native res. First time I ever had the best available. $500 really is often not that much money for an adult. I could probably keep this awhile and sell it for $300 down the road easy too. Ever since I got my monitor I decided I needed to suck it up and have a good graphics set always. Decided that going in. 24" of BF2 is sweet. :D
These threads usually go bad so let me be the first to say anyone who says we squander our money should get one of these....
:slapass:
Hey noob of 1337: no such thing as too much money. :p:
I totally can't afford it. I have a gf3 ti200 coming next week. I think that says enough :P
I could afford a SLI setup of them, no problem. I just don't have the incenvive to buy them. 24 pixel lines just seems to boring when the last few generations have been doubling the numbers.
i have a 7800gtx and plan to click the 'order' button on the r520 asap :)
6800GT still enough for me .. so no point in throwing 500$ outta the window
I sure can't afford them........ but I get all the new cards soon after release to "test", then if I like them I can keep it for about half the price of a new one. I get my cpu's donated so all I really need to buy is memory and motherboards. :)
