I'll post more details later - but I can OCCT, SuperPI, game (3dmark 2003 & 2005) but prime will die everytime with my Venice. I've had sucessful runs for 10+ hours, quit rebooted and re-ran with no changes and it died at 17 mins! The only thing consistent with it, is that it will consistently fail prime.
Does anyone else have these problems with Venice and Prime?
btw I've used SP, Prime 2411 and 238.
ive heard of bugs with amd cpus and prime before. there was actually a problem with one of the weeks of winchesters regarding prime. try running at stock speed and see what happens.
I haven't noticed anything....I know that at the very least, I had Prime going for about 9 hours while i was at work at like 291x9 or something....so i dunno...
dunno. my 2.75ghz (275x10) doesn't have any issues with priming. But than I haven't tried to play any games with higher speed either... :P Maybe I do have more usuable speed. One thing I don't like is how hot this CPU runs (at least reported on bios...) It runs about 7-10c higher than winchester did at same volt. I am running @ .1v + default atm due to temp :P (on water, I think I did 2.7gh prime stable on this chip at default volt)
Not a Venice, but my San Diego mobile doesn't seem to like P95 either. I haven't done a whole lot of testing with SuperPI or other programs, but I've been folding 24/7 the last couple days with speeds and voltages that will cause P95 to fail within seconds. :confused:
Have you tried different BIOS versions?

Error/crash during prime = cpu not stable. Sorry, but there's no Magic bugs in prime. It's a simple math test. When your cpu gets an answer wrong you get an error. Just like when you get an answer wrong the teacher hits you with a ruler and makes you stay after class and pose for the pictures that make you feel dirty inside.

If it is not stable all the time in prime95, it's not 100% stable.
Also, be sure to run S&M stress test with safety mode OFF and load at 100% (internal settings in S&M) and you will probably find another software there that crashes on your system (if you run it enough times).
Heppens to my 3800 venice too. At the same settings it can sometimes fail within 5 minutes or do over 8 hours straight. Seems very random to me. The venice is CBBLE 0507DPAW.

The first tests on Prime95 seem (imo) to stress alot more aswell. So basically after its been running for 2-3hours, you know its going to run for a while yet without crashing.
You could have "fluked" getting through the first tests and had it run for ages, then reset the computer and re-ran, and something might have happened (e.g. drop on vcore) and Prime errored.
I've had it happen to me and its not uncommon.

OK back to the issue at hand. I've had a similar experience to dnottis's with my Newcastle but this was large FFT's. 1 run stable over 13 hrs. Reset computer (I lie changed BIOS hated it and changed right back to old BIOS and settings) and I can't get any run that does not fail between 17min and 40min. I clocked back 5mhz (50 on CPU) and it was fully stable. BTW in this same example where I failed Large FFT's I passed small with flying colours.
My old 3200+ Venice had the same issue. Passed OCCT stability, SuperPi32M and all 3DMark tests but would fail prime INSTANTLY! (within 2 minutes).
It made me cry :( plus my tcc5 would get errors in Windows Memtest 3.2 around 150% at 295Mhz so I got the 3500+ instead. It primed for 17 hrs w/o error at 245x11 but didn't run it again as I'm still tweaking.
What were you using blend or small? Blend seems to catch my memory when it is erroring out and small works well for CPU testing.Quote:

Same here with 3700+ SD, though I am still testing. Seems that prime is stable at 2650 but fails at 2.7Ghz no matter what voltage/bios/other settings. However, I can run SuperPI 32M and 3dmark at 2850 and maybe more.
You guys put too much stock in prime! If it is stable in everything else you do then why should you care about prime ? I got a 3000+ venice @ 2.6 never primed it but it is stable full load for weeks now running D2OL. Dont really care what prime tells me.

There are levels of stability. Do you want your computer to be stable enough to cruch numbers all day and night? Then prime stable may be necessary. If all you do is game then get your rig game stable. The level of stability you need is determined by the functions you use most.

My dothan does, but that's a bios/adapter problem I expect. Never been a huge problem for me with A64's. Board is past it's stability limit I'd guess.
