Tbred 1700+ overclocking
Just wondering if anyone's gotten a chance to play with these things yet. I've got a chance to trade my palamino 1700+ for a Tbred, and probably will.
What I'm wondering... does anyone have any idea what the average overclock is?
And what's needed to unlock it? One of the L5s? All of the L1s? The bridges aren't laser cut, so it's easier than a palimino
-
they are factory unlocked and most overclocks im seeing are around 2ghz. i have one and it topped at just over 2ghz on air.
-
Tried it in an A7V266E, was not unlocked... are you sure about that?
-
Although, on second thought, the A7V266-E was in jumper mode, not jumperfree. I wonder if that'd affect things
-
Its def. unlocked up to 12.5x...least in my experience on the 8K3A...and in all other cases that I've read :)
Should do 1.9GHz+ on decent air fairly easily. ;)

Just got my 1700TB and I am very impressed. 2006 with 1.87v Can't beat it for $58.
-
holy §§§§ 2GHz for 60bucks? hmm.....very tempted i am, currently have 1500+ @ 1.6
-
Hmmm... I can't seem to get the bloody multiplier adjustment to work. Anyone gotten it to work on an A7V266-E?
-
Ooh. Thought. It's a 266-E/AA... I wonder if "AMD Approved" means "multiplier adjust = no".
The latest bios theoretically doesn't even support the TBred.
Figure I could flash it with the regular 266-E bios? Shouldn't be any hardware differences....
-
Lets find out. Worst case is that my brother is gonna kill me ;)
-
nah, AA just means that AMD "tested" it and they gave it the sticker of kosher-ness. Asus probably had to pay AMD to test it....
-
Well, the bios model was the same, so I flashed it... booted fine, now lets see if I have multiplier adjust.
dammit, apparently not. Although it IS redetecting my IDE controller... wtf?
-
it should have multiplier adjust....you're unlocked, right?
-
Everything i'm hearing is that it's factory unlocked, is it not?
-
Wait, think I got it.... hold on
-
thats right... i'm pretty dman sure it should be there, sounds like u need to do some rummagin in the BIOS :)
-
Ok, this is interesting.
I have a tbird 1333 in my A7V266-E. To get the multiplier adjust working, I had to move the jumper from "palamino" to Athlon/Duron. Logical, I suppose, I have a tbird.
Then I thought... wait, what if ALL multiplier adjust has to be on "Athlon/Duron".
So I tried it, and it posts as an XP2000+, regardless of the multiplier. However, I've got it at 11.5 x 133 right now, so 1800+ speeds, and WinXP shows it at 1.54 ghz, so apparently it IS setting properly.
Weird... gonna play some more
It's a little disquieting to be running a TBred on the "duron" setting, though... hmmm...
EDIT: Supa, do I recognize you from the [H] before the great exodus?
Edit 2: Yup, got it at 1900+ speeds now. Benching it. What's the safe voltage on TBreds? Will they die like northwoods, since they're 0.13?
-
the northwood problem is not definite yet, and the tbred have shown no sign of abnormally premature deaths
-
Yeah i still post on [H]...little over 3200posts now. Mostly in general hardware
its br0k now though...they have so many damn problems. should learn to buy dell servers instead of §§§§ing up making thier own
-
Well that's cool then. I'd love to know why the devil it has to be on athlon/duron.
I'm gonna run out of multipliers :(
The ram in this machine isn't great, and I'll be surprised if i get 150 FSB
-
I can't get my 1700Tbred to run over 1.9ghz, even at 2.2v
-
Well, running at 12.5 x 133 @ 1.6v right now, prime95d it overnight. But now I've gotta work with the FSB only :(
-
damn, I think I've got a stinker chip then..... it'll run at 1826-1837, but that takes 1.8v and it's not even stable doing so....... RIRGA stepping too. Oh well...... :(
-
dont feel bad my 1800 wont ever run 3d mark at 1.73 i think my mobo is mad at me its an m7mia and after a long stint of ocng the voltage stoped sticking crazy oh well epox n force is coming down the chiminy
