**VOLT MODDERS need a little help please**

I'm having some nervous jitters about modding the vtt on this board as i have never attempted a vtt mod before. Vddr was a cinch with a cap mod however i have not tried it due to vtt not tracking. Here is a pic of the board with the mosfet circled that has 3.3v coming out and goes directly to a 8 pin IC located next to the ddr dimms

you will note i drew a loop with 2 small boxes representing resistors( i think)
I belive this is the source for the vtt volts and was wondering if i installed a 10k adjustable vr to the 1.39v side top right with the other side of 10k adjustable vr to ground would that be what is requierd to complete this mod.

Unless you know what the Vreg is I dont see how you can even start to work on the mod...

Can you give more info (PDF prefered as it saves me time)

Hmm well i belive that chip is what regulates the voltage. Its a winbond chip with these #rs on it.

try take high reso picture near that Dimm slot....

thats a texas instrument chip. So are the other 2 chips to the left of it and the thrid chip in nearest the leftmost ddr dimm is a winbond chip ill get a flashlight and write it down later.

As you see in above post there was a misprint on my part. However there is no pdf file available for this atm on winbonds site I am emailing them now to request it.

heres a chip that is very similar that does have a pdf maybe the pdf applies to both chips.

Without the correct datasheet, we can only make an educated guess...

But... based on your drawing with the voltages measured in Post 1 and the datasheet you provided, the pinout appears to be the same as the W83310S-R in the PDF. All the voltages are what I would expect.

The REF pin is what the chip holds the output voltage to. Note that the REF pin is an output, middle of the voltage divider. Note also that based on your diagram, the chip already tracks Vmem correctly... meaning there isn't a need to mod it unless you want to set VTT at a level that is different than half of Vmem.

If your chip does have the same pinout and basic functionality, then there are 3 possible mods that can be done as follows:

If you want to increase VTT, then you need to put a pot between the Vin and Vref pins (pins 1 & 3), value 100K.

If you want to decrease VTT, then you need to put a pot between the Vref and Gnd pins (pins 3 & 2), value 100K.

If you want to be able to increase OR decrease VTT then put both pots in place.


WARNING!!

BE SURE TO MEASURE THE TWO WIRES FROM THE POT BEFORE YOU PUT IT IN THE CIRCUIT WITH A METER AND VERIFY IT'S ~ 100K! If it isn't, then adjust the pot until it is. FAILURE TO DO SO CAN SMOKE YOUR MB!!!


Note2: Without having the correct data sheet, you take a chance. The choice is yours. That said, if the pinout and functionality is the same, the above is valid.

Thx i think im gonna buy a regular an8 to practice with but i do not believe vtt tracks its just that i adjusted it in bios. etc when i run 2.8 ddr i run 1.4 vtt and so on matching my vtt to half my ddrv. Kinda wish the vtt wasn't a setting in bios chances are it would track if it was missing.

Take a meter to it, adjust Vmem, see if Vtt moves with it without you changing the Vtt setting in the BIOS. The BIOS adjustment can be disabled... would need more info though.. like a clear close up pic of your motherboard in the area of the Vtt regulator.
