Everytime I try to install OS I can go through process of formatting/copying files. After reboot though I get "error loading operating system" or if I try win2k I get NTLDR missing?
I've tried 100 times and no help. It worked originally and was able to get OS installed but after I oc'd a bit too far, I got a corrupted OS and now I get this problem :(
any thoughts
Try upping the VDimm a little. Also put your specs in your signature.
should have mentioned I have tried various vdimms
I have tried 4 different kinds of ram bh-5, tccd on 808 and 815pcb and Crucial tracer
Athlon64 4000+ cpu prometia mach1 modded cooled
tried 2 power supplies
tried 3 different hd's
2 different cdroms
Youre probably going to have to try installing without the mach 2, just standard air cooling and no clocking. What your describing is exactly what happened to me on a system a few years ago, install windows OC'd to the maximum of max.
I've tried oc'd, at default, and below default. No change :(
I had the same problem..kept getting the same "error loading operating system". This was after an OS was already installed on the IDE hard drive. Tried different IDE hard drives and still kept giving me the same error.Quote:

Tried the IDE hard drive and it worked again. I think i corrupted the bios and the flash fixed everything.

I'd clr cmos first, sounds like you simply have the wrong boot device selected under your hardrives.

load optimuzed/setup defaults fixed the bug for me :D
no idear what setting was the problem... i had disabled a bunch of onboard periphals and then wanted to install xp but couldnt, xp setup kept crashing...

Run the OS setup with only the disk that will receive the OS(in the setup don't forget to press f6 to install the Sata/Raid drivers if it's a Sata disk).
After the install you can hook up the rest of the disks in the system.
It worked with me.

this trick helped me as well some weeks ago. take the entire setup apart and assemble it all over again, just board cpu memory hdd and optical drive.
what brand and size is the HD?
have you try jumper in master or cable select?
If the problems were only on an IDE disk, probably they were caused by HDD access mode set to CHS instead of LBA (DFI boards do that on their own will :eek: ).
However, if the same happens also on SATA, I don't know.
yup, its what mrlobber suggested.
JNav go into your boot devices, choose the HD and it would be set to CHS or LBA, change it to the other CHs or LBA (forgot what it changes to when it says error loading operating system) I think its CHS and needs to be chnaged to LBA.
I found that problem on my dfi infinity when I flashed to a new bios or reset cmos.
Give it a shot....

are you trying to install to SATA raid ??
If so boot sector has to be on IDE or NON raid drive, check you HD boot drive
flashed back to 1.25 official and installed OS
now on beta 217 and doing well :)
