I have a mach2, asus P4C800-E deluxe, an SL7E4 (D0) steping 3.0ghz phillipino prescott.
Right now I am running 1.488 actual volts at idle and 3.9ghz and its at -11 (old northwood at 1.725v actual was more like -25).
pretty sure I have bad contact because they cant run THAT hot surely? 30 seconds of prime and it was down to only -2.
what i need to know is what temps to expect on a standard mach2 with this voltage and this chip so i know what to expect when i do have proper contact.

atleast -20 ile id think. what are you measureing the temps with. the mach2 or motherboard sensor?

the mach2 is currently idling at -46 (which is actually 6c warmer than it was when i had the coltage on 1.38v), it was at about -52. but i wont take much notice of that, last time i had bad contact the mach2 was also reporting warm temps, thats why i thought the contact must be good but it wasnt.
going to re-seat it tomorrow and have a look see what the contact was like, this is way way too warm.

I had some EE's/Prescotts on P4C800e with absolutely simular results to your Northwood/Prescott Temps.
An Asus Engineer once mentioned on the phone that the way the temp is calculated is another when prescott is in. don't know if this is correct.
I think your CPU contact is fine
i know some mach2 users owning a prescott.
they got also full load temps at about 7 degrees.

im worried about condensation building up then, cos its going to go idle (-11) to load (+ something) several times a day. (and no im not going to run seti etc all the time to keep it at load before someone suggests it hehe)
ill wait for a few more replies then before i decide whether its bad contact or not.
under prime+superpi load i get +7c cpu temps, -28c evap temps and a load vcore of 1.36v most of the time, but as low as 1.34, and idle vcore around 1.48
edit, just overclocked it a bit more , 4.05ghz, same voltage and it got up to 10c and -26c evap!
DAMN these chips run hot. i re-seated it and used ceramique and got +18c temps with the same voltage. reseated it again with AS3 again and back to normal.
ive upped the voltage a bit and its now at 4.28ghz and 1.4v under prime+superpi load and running at +17c which im now sure must be normal temps for these chips in a standard mach2. evap temps are -24c.
4.28 seems to be around the limit of this chip as i had to up the voltage slightly to stop superpi giving a "exact not round" error.
*EDIT*
ok is there some sort of incompatiblity with superpi 1.1 and these prescotts because i cannot get the thing stable at 4.28. I've upped the bios voltage from 1.5 all the way to 1.6 and its still giving the same "exact not round" error, prime95 has never given an error though. I've even downed the mem ration to 3:2 instead of 5:4 to make sure its not the memory and it just wont do it.
Reinstall superpi and that error should go away. I think it has something to do with the superpi files becoming corrupted.
ok ill try it, but its not doing it straight away, seems to be usually around 9-10 mins (has happened after about 4 mins tho)
*EDIT* tried it and it lasted 32 mins then the same error again :mad:
went up to 4.4ghz and prime was running fine. thought i would try superpi again and got bsod.
this chip dont like superpi calculations hehe
might as well forget prime and see how high i can go stable with superpi, thish is somewhere around 4.25.
*EDIT* seems stable at 4.26 (284fsb). then 286fsb gives bsod before even getting to windows, then 287fsb but fails prime and superpi! something it really doesnt like about 286fsb (5:4). either way it seems 284/4.26 is max stable. this is 1.60v in bios, 1.40 to 1.44 actual under load and gets up to 19c!
