x800 alternate soldering points?

ok, I got a bit of a problem with the VDD and VDDQ mods:

I can't get the solder to stick to the legs of those IC's and I don't have any flux to help me out so I figured I'd look for the nearest connection point.

so just to make sure, could you guys double check for me plz?

I checked with beeptest and 200 ohm setting. at beeptest i get the number "1" displayed and a beep and with 200ohm setting I get "0.2" displayed, for all 3 of the points.

Looks good to me bud....are you sure theres a connection between your Vdd alternate and pin #5?? Have to be certain on this one.

The only thing I cant say for sure is your alternate ground source. If you get a connection between your alternate ground point and pin #7 on ISL6522 (Vdd chip) then its a good ground.

yes, I just double checked:

from pin 5 a track runs to a round spot and from their to the SMD I indacated.

I also double checked here:

I get the same readings between
that spot and pin 7 on the VDD IC
that spot and pin 7 on the VDDQ IC
that spot and the screw that holds the clip down

beeptest: beeps and reads "001"
200 ohm setting reads "00.2"

one can also see a track run from the alternative ground spot into the surrounding red space wich I presume is ground.



Earlier on I also compared every point I wanted to use as an alternative to the spot that shamino indicates as the Vagp reading point.

some points will also beep but they show different values.

for example between the point I indicated as a possible alternative grounding point and the Vagp reading point I get the follow results:

beeptest beeps and reads "009"
200 ohm setting reads "04.3"
same goes for pin 7 on both IC's.


between pin 5 on VDD IC and Vagp reading point I get this:
beeptest: no beep and reads "968"
2k ohm setting reads "1.018"
same values for the alternative VDD point

between pin 5 on VDDQ IC and Vagp reading point I get this:
beeptest: no beep and reads "890"
2k ohm setting reads "772"
same values for the alternatvie VDDQ point

ok dude on the vddq i would solder to the endpoint where that trace goes and theres a circle of solder.

also u could just use grabbers, and hot glue em in place if need be

Its the same chip on the Fx 5900 Xt/SE and LE

Intersil ISL6522CB is the specifik code. Same as yours I think I can se.

and its Pind 5 and 7 also ;)

And thats bouth for the Vcore chip and Vmem chip. So i beet 100 dansih kroner that you goot it rigth ;)

Its not a question of whether he has the mods right, its whether he can use the alternate spots he indicated versus soldering direct to the chip.
