If you have the newer version that favors voltage, how much VDIMM are you feeding your modules for 24/7 use? I finally had about fifteen minutes to play with my RAM this morning and am curious to explore beyond 3.15V when I return home tonight.

go up to 3.3 and see what happens.

I plan to, but I would still like to know if there are others pushing beyond 3.3V for 24/7 use. If so, I'm going to have to modify the respective rail on my PSU and employ some sort of "custom fabricated" active cooling contraption for my memory. :D

I ordered my memory from Newegg on October 30. The image on their site depicts the earlier Revision 2, despite the fact that the modules they sell are of the newer variety.

I am interested to see how high you can push that ram since ocz has added the 4200 el into the mix, i'm guessing they aren't going to be putting the fastest ram in the 3200 bins. it's going to go to the el 4200.

The 4200s will definitely be receiving the cream-of-the-crop chips. But it doesn't negate the fact that the new Revision 2 modules will still have excellent chips on their boards. I don't think OCZ would make the mistake of implementing anything less than good on the current Revision 2 considering the reputation and high-ranking of the previous version. It would be a shame if they did so as there is still a strong market for 2-2-2 PC3200 RAM and the first Platinum Revision 2s were clearly ahead of the game.

We'll see what happens when all is said and done with my testing. I still doubt I'll see anything worth bragging about until I make the move to 939. The memory controller on the 754 is a crippling force that keeps most of us unlucky tweakers away from DDR600 and beyond.

I got mine from NewEgg today. :D However, I will have to wait a few months before I switch to AMD, until then I am curious to see what people are getting out of their rev.2.

Getting one drop shipped from OCZ tomorrow... will see... :P

apparently my OCZ platinum rev2 don't like high voltage's, i get best overclocking between 2.6-2.9vdimm

I don't know if I have the "new" revision or not but voltage does help make it stable at higher speeds but it doesn't help any in tighter timings, well it might if ran at a slower speed.
2.8v's gets me to about 250/260 range while 3.3v's will get me around 290+ and thats with 2x512 with 1 stick I max out around 310.

Anyways back to your qeustion I run this stuff at 3.3v's all the time.

Unless someone else comes out from behind the shadows and convinces me that their RAM has been operating beyond 3.3V 24/7 using nothing more than forced air as a cooling method for the DIMMs, I'll probably shy away from pushing these modules too much.

Will you at least just see how far they will manage to go given a little extra voltage, maybe just slap a fan on them for testing purposes :D

I guess I can break out my 92mm Tornado for the sake of testing, but only when my wife is not home. :D

Mine look like the bottom pics, I just got them about a week ago.

I use a 80mm fan to cool the ram, by using a temp gun I have not seen them go over 35c and that was running memtest's test #5 for along dam time.

The only thing I'm sure of is the fact that the OCZ EL DDR PC-3200 Platinum Revision 2 has manifested itself in two different forms: the good ol' two point something volts version and the newer scales with increased voltage release.

As I mentioned earlier, I only had a brief opportunity to test my modules. During that very short period, I maxed out one stick at 260MHz @ 2.8V on my DFI board. I pushed the voltage to 2.9 and was able to hit 270MHz+. I then tried the 3.1V option and was amazed to hit 298MHz, just four pennies shy of DDR600. Keep in mind that this was at 2.5-3-3-10 with all other settings on Auto, with the exception of Drive Strength which was set at 1.

I'm leaving the office in about 45 minutes, so I'll see what 3.3V will do. If all is well, I'll start dialing-in my memory for the remainder of the night and run Prime95 while I'm sleeping. Once everything is perfect, I'll repeat the whole process to find my max with both DIMMs installed.

Your new version doesn't sound so great to me. I can hit those same timings at 310htt at 2.7v with either sticks of my 512. I have the older version week 431 chips on them.

Possibly your memory controller is holding them back. Your sticks sound like my Ballistix PC3200 where as it needs 3v to hit 300htt.

This is all interesting and everything but the PC3700 el dual stuff I picked up at excal last week is stable 295 2.5 3 3 10 1t @2.7 dual channel.

Is there a benefit to the 3200 stuff?

man i been dreaming night and day about getting the 3200s and now all of a sudden they seem to be getting dumped on as not that great. im stuck between ocz and gskill and from what everyone is saying about how the ocz 3200s arent that great anymore i find myself leaving towards gskill. whats a man to do? i want as close as possbile to ddr600 at 2.5-3-3-10 1T do i need to go gskill for that or will the 3200's accomodate?

There is nothing wrong with the 3200 ones as long as you dont have an old -CO cpu i think.
Ppl started talking about new rams that are so much better but i dont think anyone has them yet.
So dont be too fast, computer world is fast enough =)

LoL dont always believe what you see in a picture, because I must have REVISION 3*sarcasm* my OCZ looks like neither of those 2

In the first picture you can see the ram states it is 8-2-2-2, in the bottom picture you can see its 2-2-2 and mine says 2-2-2-5 Never buy anything based on a picture the store shows....

And Ryan has already stated, there isnt a single batch of "high voltage loving chips" he said anything past 431 has mixed chips that love voltage, but also a huge ammount that work best at low voltage, so it is still luck of the draw
