My FX5700... needing help with vmod

i dont think that one does anything but i may be wrong...
there are a few other chips on here that i havn't looked up and will probably do so soon...

im taking my time on this card cause i dont want to kill it...
not that i killed my MX440... it just got tired of being tortured :P

For the first one i think you have to solder a pot between pin 7 (FB) and ground (pin 13 or somewhere else).

For the second one i have no idea :D

im gonna write down those ic's later tonight and post them up in the morning...

try and get some power to the memory aswell

and i might pick up some OCZ ram coolers... or chop a 1U cooler and slap them on...

Your card seems abit different from the others that have been discussed here. Be sure that you do not have 2 square ICs with the markings ISL6529 and/or ISL6569 on them.

The first chip you spoke of 9241, works together with the other chip you mentioned...9602. Together they control the Vgpu. They are usually used for Vcore on cpus as you mentioned.

You would not mod Pin #7 on 9241, it is directly tied to a Phase generator on 9602.

Pin #13 (9602) and Pin #14 (9241) are connected to Vgpu. Modding Pin #14 will get the job done for the Vgpu.

I recommend a 50K VR between Pin #14 and GND.

Without pics of the back of the card, I cant help any further.

This card seems like mine. There is two ISL6225, if is the same.

By the way the voltage reading points are:
1- for the memory
2- for the GPU

Default voltage on my memory is 2,5V and 1,38-1,46 on GPU.

alright... the IC's on the left side were a little hard to read... i put some AS5 on it and could read most of it... they may not be right... but i gave it my best shot

RT9209A probably is for Memory, RT9241A is for GPU. Memory voltage must increase by connectind 20KOmh (or more just in case) POT to pin FB. I haven't enought time to thresh out RT9241A datasheet.

i've gotta order up some VR's...

tonight i'll probably be putting on the ramsinks atleast on the back of the card...

im waiting for my new swiftech heatsink so i can put my glacialtech heatsink on the FX...

then get more info about the voltmod...

You need to do a resistance between pin #1 and ground of RT9209. Pin #1 on this Vreg is the FB pin. This pin, or a resistor connected to it is the mod location needed.

Now, you then need to do a resistance between pin #7 and ground on RT9241. Pin #7 on this Vreg is the FB pin. Although this is the FB pin for this Vreg, the actual mod point will be pin #14 or a resistor connected to it. Pin #14 is the Vsen pin and is connected directly to the Vcore/Vgpu output.

RT9209 is controlling Vddr, and RT9241 is controlling Vgpu.

Get back with the resistances I asked about and the stock voltages please.

how do i measure the resistances?
measure how much voltage is going thru the chip at those points?
pin #1 on the RT9209, and pin #7 on RT9241?

Ok, heres what to do once you get your multimeter back.

Take card out of motherboard and lay flat on your table. The RT9209A will have a dimple on its top indicating that this is pin #1. If the dimple is not there, then arrange the card so that you can read the markings on the chip. The pin on the bottom row and far left is #1. Put your multimeter to check for resistance and hold one probe to pin #1 and other probe onto the metal part I circled in the pic below. This is a ground point. Let the resistance read until it stops and write it down. Make sure you write down the chip for each reading so you dont get them mixed up.

Do the same on the RT9241 as well on pin #14.

After you get those to me we can do the mods.

alright i'll do that... my caps are not the same as the ones shown there... so i will have to measure it from the back side of the card... but i imagine the caps controll the same thing right?
