This is what I got with the 6800U and A64 3200+ @ 2.55G.
The 6800U (and/or the 60.72 driver) seems to be optimized for DX8/9. Its scrore with 2k1 is not much higher than an overclocked 9800XT.

looks good
nice score for an overclocked 6800u. even in 2001 it should be higher than a 9800xt overclocked to 650MHz core. I heard 230fps nature stock without lodbias tweaks!

A nice score,
where you get this new baby??? :slobber:
What was your Nature score in 2k1?
2k1 should be at least 26k in your system (i'm talking bare minimum, run straight through).
man those clocks are so sick. an entire 93 mz's on the core and 2 of them on the mem!
If I tell you I'll have to kill you.....Quote:

The 2k1 score was around 26.5k. From memory I think Nature was way over 200 (I've only run it 2 times).Quote:

I didn't pay much attention to 2k1 as its score was lower than my previous score with a 9800XT (with a 2.77G A64)
That 200mhz can make a huge difference on the A64 platform (you probably already know this). That card should be able to beat the 9800XT without a lot of effort. I saw 24k range for a stock card. Show me a 9800XT scoring 24k stock?
somethings wrong if a 16 pipeline cards getting owned by a 8 pipe card. that would be like me upgrading my ti4200 to a 9700 pro and scoring lower than my 16.5k in sig. god I cant wait to see knowlegable guys, especially Macci get their hands on one who know what they are doing. people that dont know how to bench get bad scores(aa/af turned on, settings on quality, etc)
that shouldn't be too hard with an xtQuote:

Ok I think we can make an exception for a 4.3Ghz P4EE :DQuote:

Yes, I am sure that stock Vs stock the 6800 will be a lot faster than a 9800XT in 2k1. However, my main point is that the 6800, with its current set of drivers, is probably optimized for DX8/9, rather than DX7, which is used for most tests of 2k1.Quote:

it should still do dx8 very fast due to its 16 pipelines and huge fillrates which 3dmark 2001 loves. I am guessing that with even an overclocked a64 a huge bottleneck, the 9800xt and 6800u would get the same fps in every game test except for nature where the 6800u gets well over 200fps. this is where all the extra points come from. once we see what Macci can do on his 3+ GHz athlon fx, the gap should be HUGE
oops here's the 24k

Soulburner you just helped me retrack my steps and figure something out.
:toast: for solving my riddle.
Also with a A64 FX at 3G:DQuote:

Nice 3dmark03 score of course. ThinkI agree with you on the 2k1 score ie the drivers are optimised for DX8/9 shaders.
Actually nvidia drivers have been getting worse and worse for 2001, I had assumed as they had taken some optimisations out, but maybe it was just that they kept fine tuning them for DX9 and DX8/9 shaders and DX7 got stuffed.
Would still be interested in how this card performs with 44.03 and 52.16 drivers, if it does work with them of course.
It's going to be expensive if you need an Ati for 2001 and nvidia for 03, or vice versa ... $1000 :)

Andy
accroding to a review, the x800xt was only 1300 marks faster than the 6800u on an a64, but then the cpu may have been a huge bottleneck
The older drivers do not recognize the 6800U. My card doesn't work with 52.16.Quote:

So, make it work ;)Quote:

Yes, 3D01 has gotten slower with the newer drivers but at the FPS we are seeing that isn't a huge concern. All of your DX7/8 games are still going to run 100-300fps range, and does losing 10fps really matter if the quality increases? They aren't concerned with that benchmark anymore if you ask me.

o m g, that video card ownz! 13k in 3dmark03, that's itself is worth the money. wonder if anygames would even use any of that power, since 3dmark03 is considered a synthetic 3d benchmark and not indicative of real world performance. Anyways, you are so lucky to have one. wish you can post some high quality pics of the 6800 ultra!
nice scores
