Any one running this cobo? I just ordered A64 3400 mobile from newegg thinking and hopping that the mobile may be a better cut of the waffer. I hope we can run the mobiles in the NF150 chipsets with no conflicts with clock-gen

hmm is there any diference between the mobiles and the desktop chips with the a64s besides the missing heatspreader? less volts?
I thought they were default at 1.3v or so? Or maybe i'm just making stuff up. Not sure.
voltage is 1.5 same as the desktop cpu.
since all newer desktop chips support cool n quiet wich is basically like power now i think theres no diference between mobiles and desktop chips...
i say they wil be the cherry piced cores and probly will oc beter then the desktop ones. but then again thats just me thinking positive :toast: i will buy one once i hear how people are making out with them? probly a good idea to try and get one out of the first batch? ill be ordering one soon....
peace perc,
If it was mine i´d be pretty happy with the ideia, just the tought of no heatspreader, that should really bump the clock, and keep it running cool.
Actually I have already removed the IHS from the 3400 I have now and it only helped by 2c. It took some modin to get the promi head to lower enough just to contact the cpu. I cut the legs on the mount bracket more than 1/2, did some filing to make clearance for a few chips under the mount and then I also lowered the metal attachment bracket, I also use 4 washers on each screw.
yopu still not getting 27,000 CP ;) hehe J/K
I would think these chips will run cooler just becasue you dont want hot laptop chips..
FX51 is still the way to go fully unlocked all Cherry picked CPU's capable of 2.8-3ghz on prommy DC controller, ability to run 1-2ghz of ram at 2-2-2-6 at high fsb's with no issues like on A64 754 and so on and so on :)
I think I heard something about lowering thermal resistance, so they might just been cherry cpu's that run a little cooler than the average.
I amm interested to see how they do.
keep us posted , one of these DTR A64's might be my next purchase
I thought the mobiles wouldn't run on the newer boards?
Athlon XP was no problem, but Athlon 64?
Has anyone really tried that out? Sounds really interesting.
I don't think anyone has tried out a 64 mobile in any mb yet.Quote:

It's on it's way and is scheduled to arrive Thur. Any time before the weekend is fine by me :D I hope I get a 3ghz chip, it would be sweet and top ten bound
I found my mobile 64 sitting on my door step when I got home from work today  It's a hr or so later and I'm clicking right along at 2.58 with 1.75v to the cpu.
There is some minor issues with the mobile: apon boot it runs with a 4x multiplier, wich I was able to change with clock-gen.
I will post more as I figure out how this thing OC's
How were you able to change it in clockgen? Were you able to select other mutli's or just the correct one?
What are your temps like?
Nice oc, maybe you will be able to get a little more out of it.
I'm sure this isn't the best it can do. Still at 1.75 vcore and only 3.18 on the mem at 1 to 1 card clocks on this run was my start-up clocks of 465/385
hmm.. so the only differance is no heatspreader on the mobiles?
does that help anything even?
damn nice. 2.76 @ 1.744v and 3dstable? I don't know a64's too well, but looks like a good chip to me :D
That is under your mach2 right? Did you have to do any modding to get good contact?
Damn nice man...keep it coming :toast:
Man seriously why can't they unlock the freaking multiplier. Would help alot :):)
Is there any performance drop between normal and mobile a64?
Cheers,
Nick
Their new system of unlocking multis lower than the stock multi is a good idea from a sales stand point. If you want higher multis you have to buy the better procs. No more buying a 2500 and using 15x. As long as they have high enough multi's available. Right now it is kind of annoying, but for them it is probably a good thing...atleast i think so. They could have done what intel did and give us no options at all.
From what I've read these are not the true mobile chips, but the desktop replacements. The true mobile64's have yet to be released. They are pretty much identical to the standard 3200 sans the heatspreader. They are supposedly based on the CG cores which offer some thermal benefit. Make sure your mobo will support the CG core 64's... ;) Temps should be better w/out the h/s, though some heatsinks won't fit w/out modification b/c of the missing h/s. ;)
Yeah, that's what they are...atleast as far as I know.Quote:

cowpuppy did you have to modify your a64 kit to make it fit onto the mobile?
Yes I had to do some mods to lower the evap head to touch the cpu. I'm not sure how one would mod a air cooler to work and water I would would be perty easy.Quote:

So every time you boot up you have to up the multipler in windows ? :(
thats gotta sux
