AIM is dead - Long Live AIM! (Phoenix AIM thread)

I have countless memories of nights spent staying up late chatting with people from this forum on AIM, it seemed to be the main way of communicating outside of the forum. There were many great friendships formed and projects collaborated on with fellow XS members. You may be aware that AOL shut down AIM for good just over a year ago, in October 2017.

Unfortunately, our screen names and buddy lists are now long gone, but the AIM service lives on thanks to the Phoenix AIM project. I thought it would be cool to get the people of XS chatting in style again.

You can register your screen name and grab an AIM client at http://iwarg.ddns.net/aim/ with AIM 5.1 being the most compatible version (run it in XP SP3 compatibility mode, or even better, on something actually running an older version of Windows with an Athlon XP or Pentium 4 in it). You'll have to go in to AIM settings and change the default host url to iwarg.ddns.net
