Keeping this overclock stable, however, took AIO liquid CPU cooling.

Kaby Lake is pretty much what everyone wanted Skylake to be. Had they came out with these overclocking features a year ago I think a lot more people would be happy right now.

But seriously, 5.2 GHz auto-overclock is pretty awesome.

1.5v jeeez, that's pretty daredevil coming from the manufacturer itself, most Kaby Lakes hit 5GHz mark in the 1.31 - 1.35v range and 1.35v from many stress test results is roughly whereabouts I'd call safe 24/7 settings on air/water when you start seeing temps roughly 80~85C in stress tests on good air/water cooling.

So in that sense I think MSI is pretty insane putting that kind of voltage output into average joe's hands (I'm thinking also stock cooling users who knows no better and follows these auto OC blindly...)

1.5v and maybe 105~110C can't be that good for the CPU in the long run. Hopefully these stability tests is also taking temperatures into account.

Assuming all chips can do 5.2Ghz you would need to pump moderate core voltage to assure the highest chances of success.

I agree 1.5v is a bit too aggressive as many people might have inferior cooling for such a task.

1.5V is fine for this winter :D :D

1.5v is insane, 1.3v is acceptable, 1.17v is ideal.

lol, 1.5V without delid---I dont see how many CPUs will be in BSODs/blackscreens with this profile at MSI board:D This voltage is useable with delid and custom wattercooling for 24/7

Planned obsolescence... err failure.

1.5V is A LOT for 24/7.
