why would you ask about ipc when what you are looking for is IPS. No-one would run a PD at PHII speeds to get anything done, so why ask about it in that reference(IPC)?
Since what you are looking for seems to be mostly multicore stuff I'd say PD based 8 core. Higher IPS but lower IPC. Your poll is flawed if you are trying to get anything useful out of it.
so I would be much better off with a Thuban X6 than this Zambezi FX 8120?
why don't you want the vishera version?

i pre-ordered a Zambezi (FX 8120) when they first came out in 2011, and I am just now researching about the Phenom II vs FX 81xx because a friend said his Deneb was faster and I didn't believe him til i looked it up... ,so now I am looking at getting a Thuban X6 or if you suggest the 8320 (Vishera) is better?Quote:

if you already have the 8120, don't sweat it. just overclock it to almost as far as it can go, and it will serve you well for another 4-6 years.

All in all deneb and thuban are better choices than zambezi, however in some apps zambezi will be faster.And it overclocks to higher freq.Quote:

My tests proved that it is overall faster than PHII, not by a huge amount in most apps, but in some there is nice gain.Or, if you want a really sizable upgrade, there is no denying it now, go intel :-(.
However Vishera with clocks higher than 4.0Ghz is a really nice performing chip its comparable to intels in Mt work, its gonna chew 2x the power tho.
on one hand i agree with you, i do think the new vishera ( @ 5ghz mind you ) is an equal ( overall ) competitor of a fully clocked 4.2ghz 6core thuban/zosma. unless he knows someone who wants a 8120 he'll have to bite the bullet on price. but really i would say just to max it out. maybe he has a golden 8120?Quote:
