hey
I whant to know all what i need to mod my board, some good pics of the Vmod finish(i whant to see what kind of POT too).
right now i have:
100K POT(i dont know if its the good kind)
30W solder iron
voltometer
and the board...lol
please help me, ive seen like 2 version of the mod and i dont know which one is the best
I know that more then one person did that Vmod and no one can help a mate!?!?!?!
The mod is the same as on the P4C800. The basic difference is position (not location) of the LM358 chip on the P4P800.
Just in case you don't know, the LM358 on the P4P is located right above the SATA ports. Locate pin 1 and then solder pin 6 via a 50k trimmer to pin 4 (ground).
Check some pics of the mod done on the p4c800 and you'll know what to do. I have some pics here.

And if yes on which pins to connect(on the POT)?

Use a 50K miniature POT. RS has those too! You hook it up to the No: 6 leg of that IC. The dimple is leg 1. The count of the legs goes down and then starts back up on the other side. DO NOT go to the top on the opposite side of the IC to find leg 6. The count of the legs is like a "U".
The orange grabber is where you can measure the Vmem...
Connect the IC grabber wire to the middle leg of the POT and then depending on what direction you want to turn the pot to decrease resistance (increases Vmem) will determine which outer leg you will use for the ground wire. You can attach the ground wire to the case or m/b mounting screw; just make sure it is tight and will not come lose later on...
NOTE: Make sure you diagram on a piece of paper the direction to decrease resistance and then set the resistance to maximum before hooking it up.

That thing you have is way to cumbersome to work with. Get the 47K miniature POT from RS. It is a lot easier to place in the case out of the way...
Oh, use 22 gauge stranded wire for the mod...
Rule of thumb on the Vmem mod: VR set to 0k will give you approximately.1v under your PSU's 3.3v line output.
I used a 10k blue cermet also available from RS for this mod. Very easy to do with good rewards:)

I used a 10K cermet (set to 10K) and my eye balls caged when I saw 3.3V on boot up. Some of the IC's or regulators work very well while others do not put out very good. I would prefer he defer to a 47K over 10K.

umm..... OK again i see two version of the mod, but i dont see WHERE the second wire go plug on:confused:
Follow my directions on the other page. It tells you what to do. The only other thing that I can add is to use an electrical grommet to use to fasten to ground. Ground can be the case or board anchor screws. if you look at my close up pic of the mod you can see my electrical grommet fastened by the board anchor screw just underneath the white wire at the edge of the board.
