hey guys Im wondering what board is the best to buy for OCing a A64. I heard the nf3 boards are better than the k8t800 boards for Ocing.
But which nf3 board is the best? Is there any difference between say the Shuttle board, Gigabyte board, soyo.....others?

Yup MickeyMouse is correct, go for the Asus. It's by far the most stable board for new comers.
Shuttle is a bit high maintanance with its pickyness of ram and slots, not to mention people constantly frying their CPU's.
The CPU slaughter fest has toned down a bit since people stopped trying to change VModded board's VDimm thru bios and actually used the VR tho ;)
Bah.... I don't know what I'm gonna do for the next few days until NewEgg sends me new A64 3200+ :(
What about the Gigabyte nf3 board? is that any good?
What about the AK86-L? Anandtech claims it has additional multiplers to keep the PCI at spec.
That coupled with the K8T800 chipset would make it the best motherboard out there. If Anandtech is correct of course...

With the new Asus BIOS (1005) I've been able to increase my overclock to 2300mhz from 2200. Testing for stability now with Prime 95. So far so good. Memory is at 5:3 and voltage is at 1.675! I'm sure with better memory I can do 230FSB at 1:1. I'm using HyperX PC3500 (CH-5) with 2-3-3-7 timings.

I thought the Asus K8V didnt do 1:1 to well with any kinda memory ??
I know it's not spectacular, but I've been able to run 220@1:1 for 2 months with no problems. Running at 230 now with 5:3. Like I said, with some BH-5 chips, I'm sure I could run 230 1:1. I'd like to vold mod, but I've read about too many people killing their chips with mods.

The first A64 board I tried was an Abit KV8 Max3..and I never could get that board stable at it's default 204fsb with any type of ram I have on hand be it 256mb or 512mb sticks...now with memory set to 5:3 it was great..but I prefer 1:1 even if I dont get the big clock.
Thought about trying the Asus board, but after the bad experence with the VIA based Abit I just passed and got a K8N Pro.
what if yu dont do any mods to the shuttle will it last untill you get more knowledge of it?
