So after HPF2 and GFAM finish up shortly we will have only 4 fulltime project lefts on WCG:
DSFL - 160 days left
CEP2 - 373 days left
FAAH - 526 days left
SN2S - 677 days left
And I imagine those days will go quickly as people are funneled into these projects.
Crap that went down fast!
There was a jump here was there not? Cuz I thought I had timed this right... but I'm about 4 years short of my goal...
Edit: and yeah - they better get some new projects fast! Cuz we're crunching through them fast!
Dont like, i have
Project Points
Generated Results Returned Total Run Time (y:d:h:m:s)
GO Fight Against Malaria 1,805,510 2,186 1:087:20:48:06
So i wont make it to 2yr badge... :( With my 12c opteron i'll get to 1yr255days. Anyone care to help me with this?
I would post your weak key so we can help out when possible.
Few days ago, it was ~90 days estimated, so I felt there's no need to hurry to get sapphire. Even though I switched all my CPUs to GFAM, I'll probably miss that badge too :(
Probably can't help until Sunday/Monday.
Someone want to start a thread showing who wants help, how much help, and who is offering/already on the case for both projects finishing soon?
Also, a how to reminder on how to use a weak key ;)
I would remind folks of this thread:

Dang I have 120 days left, going to miss sapphire by about 7 days :(
289862_509421b71ad9a467e3e576977ff81f55 if anyone can help.
jeanguy2: done :)
my stats at the moment

I should have a quad core Linux box available to help out after 9pm EST today. However I could use some guidance in how to use someone else's weak key.
Yojimbo I got this from XS_Fallwind:,
-open up notepad and paste the following:
-replace "WEAK_KEY" with the weak key you want to use.Quote:
<account>
<master_url>http://www.worldcommunitygrid.org/</master_url>
<authenticator>WEAK_KEY</authenticator>
<project_name>World Community Grid</project_name>
</account>
-save the file as : account_www.worldcommunitygrid.org.xml
-open BOINC manager and remove WCG from the projects tab (detach from WCG).
-close BOINC manager and make sure anything BOINC related is shut down (look in task manager)
-go to the BOINC data folder and make sure the old account_www.worldcommunitygrid.org.xml file is gone.
-paste the new account_www.worldcommunitygrid.org.xml file from above into the data folder.
-restart BOINC. Look in the project tab and make sure BOINC is now showing the new account name.
Notes:
1- Whatever you have named your device is what will show up on the WCG account holder you're helping. It will use his/her WCG "Default" device profile so make sure the helpee has set it up has needed.
2- To reverse the process, you simply detach from WCG(this will delete the custom .xml file you put in the BOINC data file) and then re-attach using your WCG username and password.
3- Adjust the cache on the helping crunching device to meet the targeted goal as recommended by the person you're helping.
im at Total Run Time (y:d:h:m:s) 1:103:13:00:42 - which means with my current 12c opteron and 2c/4t x220 laptop - i'll be missing about 103 days of CPU time - so 10 cores for 10 days minimum needed :(
Don't forget, that you can buffer a few more days in advance.
Just switched a Q6600 @ 3.6 GHz from my HPF2 to your account. Cache is set to .1 min + 8.00 max additional. So there is 4 cores for you!
I should still be OK as I'll still have some time after GFAM ends for you. Hope that helps. If we get a 8 core to jump on you that should make you good and get done sooner too.
at the moment im running 24h cache on my personal crunchers, if I get past 2y will switch over all my crunchers to whoever needs them.
Saw it, thanks!Quote:

Thanks for the primer, jeanguy. It pretty much worked right away, except I forgot to change my box to Default. Once I did that and rebooted it worked like a charm.
Ok Anubis, I have all 4 cores of my Q9550 Linux Mint 14 box crunching away for you.
I will have another 2 boxes/8 cores available for GFAM or HPF2 probably Monday or Tuesday. Sing out if you need help, XS'ers!
I have under my account
*12c opteron 2419
*2c/4t x220 i5
*gf's 2c/4t i3
*yojimbo197 4c q9550
*bluestangs 4c q6600
thats 28threads - so i should be OK :)
edit: since the WUs are being eaten up faster then any help is still appriciated!

Regular Work for the Project has Ended
"We have reached the end of regular tasks ready to be sent out for the project. There will be a series of tasks being resent over the next 7-10 days as additional tasks are required to finish the existing work.
We have updated the status of the project to be shown as 'intermittent'.
We thank all of you for the time and effort you have spent contributing towards this project!"
