The same old sh*t to start a new thread for 'wyt' ( 'wytiwx' ).
THX, man. I'm coming. :D
I think I love the old school overclocking things, the first step was Celeron D, now this is the second step.
LGA771 CPU for LGA775 Mobo mod is not my original thing, I just do this for interest, and I mean no offense.
We know that many LGA771 CPU s and LGA775 CPU s were made from same wafer.
They can have the same CPUID, same stepping, same cache size, same CPU Features, even same FSB and Freq, the only one different thing is Socket type.
So it's not so difficult for LGA771 CPU to work on LGA775 Mobo, right?
This is top view of two CPU.

See? Most of Socket Pins are the same definitions, functions and positions.
That's the good news to mod work. :D
Next step is to check socket pin land assignment one by one.
There are about 76 different pins between LGA771 and LGA775, but many pins are 'RESERVED', 'TSETHI', 'COMP' and 'FCxx' pins, which can be ignored in many cases.
LGA775 socket have 8 pins more than LGA771 socket, these pins are Power pins, like VCC, VSS, VTT.
LGA771 socket have 4 pins more than LGA775 socket, these pins are Power pins too.
It doesn't matter for losing some Power pins.
According to someone's testing result, the most important pins are two address pins:

For LGA771 CPU, land name A3# is Execute BIST (Built-In Self Test), it's pin No. M5 on LGA771, but this A3# pin is pin No. L5 on LGA775.
So the key is to exchange pin M5 and L5. Thank God, pin M5 is adjacent to L5.
Get this done first!
You keep blowing my mind with these kind of things man...In before greatness :D
Here we go.
LGA771 CPU Pinmod first.

Third thing is to use software like CBROM (for Award BIOS) or MMTOOL (for AMI BIOS) to check your Mobo's BIOS, find if BIOS has the CPUID of LGA771 CPU.
In many cases, the Mobo already has many CPUID codes, I won't take my time to explain how to check and insert the CPUID codes.
You can get more info about LGA771 CPU in this website: http://www.cpu-world.com/
What am I waiting for? Nothing.
Go go go!

I will make some Extreme Cooling result when I get back to my lab. :D
Wow you guys are going super hard on 775, pin modding and all.
I am sure the 771 cpus have to be pretty cheap nowadays.
Xeon 5110 FSB 595MHz done. Should try a P45 board, I think.
