I think DCII cards have been overclocking worst then normal reference cards so... Idk if I would go for that. Matrix cards are also almost here so...
any ideas when the 7970 matrix card comes out.
You might consider this: EVGA GeForce GTX 680 Hydro Copper http://www.evga.com/products/moreInf...s%20Family&sw=
I've been thinking about either a DCII Top, or Lightning, probably in the 7970, but maybe the 680. I'm on a 30" panel, and I've heard the 7970 is marginally better at that resolution once you get it over about 1100mhz. Sounds like the DCII is off the list. How much will the Matrix cards cost? What is an average overclock for a 7970 lightning on air? Water?
Well I don't know when the matrix will come out for the general public but there are some in the wild already, so I just assumed they would be around for normal consumers not long after that. As for costs I would say like 100$ over normal 7970 price, I think that might be a good guess.
Any rumors on overclocks on water for the matrix? Seems like lately water doesn't get you much beyond the air cooler on cards like the lightning and Matrix, but I'll do it anyways probably.
A stock ref. design HD7970 will kick a Lightning or a DC II 7970 in the but they are only made for ln2 oc and not air or water i have had 3 DC II T and the 2 of them could only 1250mhz bench stabel and the last did 1300 but have had several Ref cards that did 1350+ mhz easy all cards tested on water så go for a ref HD7970 card and get water for that and then you can run 1300mhz 24/7 easy
Any particular brand you recommend? Looks like prices on ref units are slowing coming down.
They are the same but i had good cards from sapphire
There is no lightning or DC II T that does 1300mhz + on air or water but nearly all the ref cards do that so no i have not been unlucky i have had stock cards that did 1375mhz on air and 1400mhz on water and my team have had 25+ lightning cards and not one did 0ver 1250mhz no mater what voltage and the best DC II T i have had did 1310mhz on water and thats the best i have seen on that card
Got my lightning running at 1350, and that's with an undersized radiator. Should do more once I upgrade my system and bring down temps. Perhaps the ones sold after the massive shortage do better, that's when I got mine.
1350 is pretty good. Are you on a universal block? I wanted to get a full coverage block (looks like EK will have one soon). You think there is still more left if you can lower temps? Did you try it on air before water?
