These are the unified drivers for the 6 series and up. They allow adaptive vsync, frame rate target adjustment as well as FXAA via the control panel. Basically win all around :) I'm glad they released these in a timely manner. I've been pretty impressed by FXAA and adaptive vysnc in the few games I've been playing with my 680 so it will be fun to play around with those on the 580.

where do you set the adapt vsync mate ? i can find it on nvidia panel

Its an option under Vsync. Just putting the drivers on for my 580 now but I had been playing around with them on my 570 and they work great.
I tried it on The Witcher 2, The Darkness 2 and Crysis 2 (others as well but most would render far in excess of 60 so regular vsync works just fine then ). Its quite handy in Crysis 2 as there are a few areas where even a 680 has a little bit of difficulty. The benifit is you get a vsynced image at framerate >= refresh rate and it turns off below that so you don't get the drops to 45/30 etc. Normally even a drop to 55fps causes vysnc to make performance crap the bed so I'd often left it off. (without forced triple buffering anyway but given it further increases resource usage and can increase input lag its not the most viable option in many cases; that and it must be forced in 99% of D3D games via Rivatuner or the like) Now you don't have to :)
I'd definitely set this as well as FXAA on a per application basis though. They aren't settings that play nice globally.

even been from South America i always hated translations to spanish guess instead ADAPTATIVE = ADAPTABLE nvidia prefeered AUTOMATICO wich measn AUTOMATIC :)

I tried the XP version and they wouldn't give me the "enable SLI" option even though both cards were seen within NVControl panel.
I'm going to try again tonight on a fresh Z77 XP install.

Clean install on Z77 made no difference, I'm guessing no SLI support for XP :(

So, any advantage in games or benchs for the "old" 580 or just new features for the 680??

Adaptive vsync is a driver feature not a card feature, so yeah :). I havent tested it in games yet but the option is there in control panel for my 470 sli.
FXAA could be good too.

New stuff in the 3d settings what do you guys have your settings at? FXAA and everything you guys got some screen shots you could post? Also does anyone else find their card idle temps higher? Mine went up 10+ degrees.
I am using the guys settings above but this half of the menu is where I am unsure:

The 4 settings you have set to off turn on. You may need to leave ambient occlusion off on a gtx460 depending on resolution/ingame settings. The others are fine :).

Ambient Occlusion I'm trying at Performance. I think it sucks you cant see your fps in mw3. For Antialiasing transparency what do you guys have it at? I'm not sure how big of a performance hit it gives you. I have it at multisample but I can see there is a difference between multi and 2x.
Going to update BF3 and see if I can tell some more differences.
For Anistropic filtering, antialiasing and antialiasing setting I have them all set to application controlled but the games I am running I have not tweaked too much. Would you run Anistropic filtering off or 2x or what with a 460?
For reference I run a 22in at 1680x1050.

Nvidia driver has a built in FPS counter (or used to). Unfortunately not on the right pc to check though. Im pretty sure you get to it off one of the top menus in the nvidia control panel though.
For AF max it at 16x and see how it goes. If its choppy then drop it to 8x. Have you got a 768mb or 1gb card? The 1gb card should manage 16x right up to 1920 x 1200, though your AA will likely be limited to 2x (maybe 4x with FXAA enabled?). The 768mb then probably 16x at 1680x1050, but maybe 8x. This may vary between games too. Id definitely leave this at application controlled and just test settings with each game as you play.
FXAA may cause weird or missing textures in some games, so if things go weird in a particular game turn FXAA off first and transparency aa second.
Start by turning on FXAA then setting up your in game settings to the max playable.
Next crank up your AF in game to 16x and try it, if its choppy back it down until it works. Be prepared to test dropping an AA level and running high AF to see what looks/runs better.
Last major setting is ambient occlusion. Test with it on and off at different detail levels if the game is choppy. It can make a massive difference to visuals in some games, so it may again be worth taking a hit on your AA or AF settings in order to have it on.
Finally start playing with transparency AA settings. Note that its usually not worth going above your ingame AA setting as the dirver will downscale it. It can still look better but the fps hit is massive.

Quick question to anyone using this driver - is having FXAA enabled screwing with msn messenger? My text appears sharp as its new but over 5 seconds fades to a really fuzzy horrible grey that you can barely see let alone read. If i disable FXAA its back to normal. 2 x 470 sli / p67 m4e.

So tried some of the advice above and starting things over, played league of legends and I was getting like huge lag when trying to move across the screen. Reset things to default and so far so good.
I have AF set to 8X right now things are fine.
AA-FXAA I have off right now, is there a setting for MSAA or is it called something different because I think it looks better then FXAA in BF3.
What confuses me is why so much of this stuff does like the same thing, like AA and Texter filtering but ones a major hit. FXAA and MSAA, arg! I'm using a tweak guide to understand each setting but I dunno still confusing.
Also if Antialiasing Post (FXAA) is set to on in a game, but set to off in Nvidia 3D manager what happens?
What setting would make water semi shinyish on the ground? To me it looked slightly silvery reflective. Didn't look bad up close it looked nice but a cpl feet away it looked like a mirror was sort of on the ground?

These drivers gimped my MSI TFIII GTX 560 ti 448. Before driver my card could over clock much higher. After driver my card down clocks when over 1000mhz to 405mhz when under load.
Seriously gimp power with this driver. Also I have tried uninstalling the these drivers and I can't get the down clock gimp trick to go away. Not sure how to fix this. Please help you know what is going on.
