The best or not, I don't know. But Ceramique is what I use.
I know Chew used toothpaste one time and it worked LOL
MX-2 Works well also.
ceramique doesn't freeze with a single stage. but its thermal conductivity isn't as good as some
pk-1 is very good
gcx is what ln2 guys mostly use
evga is very good too
coolermaster ice is what vivi uses
I didn't realize MX-2 et all likes going sub-zero.
Best way to apply still a glob in the center of the die and then mount the head?
Can you tell it's been awhile since I've messed around with hardware?
mx-2 freezes from my testing(ln2 full pot)...sorry i forgot to put that in my previous post.
Here is a youtube that shows how TIM spreads with different ways to apply it.

I apply a big ass blob, mount the evap with slight pressure and kick on the computer until the CPU is around 60-70C. Rotate the evap mount a bit to squish out excess paste, tighten down and begin pulling down the evap. Same process I use on CPUs and GPUs under LN2 and I get fantastic looking mount patterns. You'll always end up with a ton of paste squished out, don't let that crap fall in to the socket when you remove the CPU.
