Surprised there isn't a thread about this, but IE9 finally went RTM and is available for download from here, or here.
This is by far and away the best browser I've ever used bar none. It launches fast, and renders web pages very fast; noticeably faster than Firefox. Haven't used Chrome before, so I can't compare them together.
But this guy did, and the results speak for itself. IE9 b!tch slaps Chrome :D

First impression was: WTF! Give me my interface back! (I can't stand not having the Menu bar above address bar :D).
After some little tweaking (had to re-tweak security a bit as well), I am impressed. The rendering looks much beter for me and is remarkably faster than other browsers (got FF 4 latest beta, Opera and IE8).
I am also surprised at how fast and also easy to use Internet Explorer 9 is too!

I tested the JS engines of all the major browsers yesterday using Sunspider when I did the IE9 update. I made sure Opera, Chrome, Firefox, Safari, and IE were all at their latest versions. As it turns out, IE 9's JS engine is the fastest, followed closely by Opera.
IE9: 276ms
Opera: 307ms
Chrome: 341ms
Safari: 446ms
FF: 958ms
Note that JS performance doesn't determine how fast a browser is overall, so don't mistake me for having made such a claim. It is, however, an important aspect of any modern browser. I find it interesting how Chrome doesn't lead the way in that field. They aren't usually the fastest, but they sure started the recent wave of JS engine improvement a couple of years back. The worst score here is better than the best score of any browser on this same laptop from a couple of years ago.

Regarding IE9 specifically: It really messes up the WebBrowser control in .NET apps when they call .Print(). Everything is all jacked up now. It seems to be due to new compatibility modes, but it causes fun stuff like weird padding around elements and entirely missing characters. It's the same thing the betas did. Whitespace can be eliminated by adding compatibility mode directives to the HTML or setting manual compatibility levels in the registry.

I ran the beta/RC for quite a while and found it to be quite buggy - I am not seeing the same bugs in this RTM. Good job MS. And I think I've finally gotten used to the favorites being on the left.
Sounds like Microsoft finally make IE worth something.

Chrome just updated to 10.0.648.134 on my PC. Also IE9 RC was very buggy for me. From the reviews it seems the RTM version of IE9 is much better. Can you compare IE9 RTM vs new version of Chrome on peacekeeper?Quote:

are there any type of ad-blocks on this thing like firefox? i can stand a page loading a few milliseconds slower, but what i can't stand are ads. the only thing i use firefox for is the adblock

yes i read all the posts, but if you tried this browser yourself with those TPLs, it doesn't work and ads still work as normal... unless i'm still doing something wrong. i'm still sticking with FF until there's an option or add on to disable adsQuote:
