Does anybody seem this madness?

I received a 980X, and as always I decided to bench on LN2.
In the begining of the tests, I was very disappointed because I had never caught on with a CPU and a Coldboot and Coldbug so low.
VTT with louder he even reached 95 ºC and the lowest VTT was able to work around 84 ~ 94 ºC (little by little).
I tested several values of uncore, vtt, etc ... and at first I thought it is even more garbage.
Even so, I decided to continue and began to change my impressions.
With VTT of 1.45V (max), I managed to run the CPU test of the Vantage 6121 Mhz (always between 84 and 94 degrees).
dismantled the system, and rode again with another pot (SF3D and F1EE), but temperatures were correct.
I never thought that a CPU with as low a Coldbug could have results like that.
It is very difficult to control the temperature, but it was the best I ever had.
Any idea to fix this issue??? (did try dual channel and it keeps the same)
Then give an update on other tests so soon.

P.S. system without tweak ... only a heavy W7 64 "default"

Who cares what's the temp as long as it runs Vantage obove 6G? this is really a sick chip...
You're better of with this than one with no CB and max frequency 5,7 G.

Can you elaborate on what "tweaks" there are for Windows 7 to improve 3d scores from Futuremark benchmarks?

I think Windowns 7 is a heavy Operational System...
Each benchmark haves his own tweak (03, Vantage, Aquamark, for exemple, to me, is good to W7).
You have lots of ways to turn your SO best to bench...like adjust for best appearance, disable useless stuff like (NET, Audio, etc)...run 120 mhz...etc, etc
In the Rampage 3 Bios, disable 2D (that s enable)
I only tested the CPU, and didn t mind about to turn SO better...
When I bench, usually change settings and disable all stuff to get better scores...
I hope i can bench 3D with a sicky card...but still waiting.
I have no VGA for now...i killed mine GTX 580

Chilchip has nothing to do with chip/imc coldbug. The problem was vcore dropping at low temps on real early boards.

how many r3es have you tested?

No friend...
Only dual and tri channel...
I only like to bench single at benchs like 06, but at Vantage dual or tri is needed...
Will try XP + 06 at single

Single channel is fine for Vantage..... :) That might be your issue... Try it.... Also try another board...

What would happen if you raise vtt?

Also what pll voltage were you using?

And finally.... Congrats on having a 6ghz Vantage chip.. best I have had is 5.7 to 5.8.... So you should feel lucky my friend :)

VTT can t work more than 1.475V (no boot...and impossible to increase at ROG Connect...instant freeze)...
CPU PLL i usually work around 1.41~1.55V...but i did try higger values too...not change CB and CBB
Dua channel don t change CB and CBB
BIOS 1203 and BIOS 96 tested...same stuff
No more motherboard...i just have one...
Next money is to buy another GTX 580 (i killed mine :( ) ... i have to work at 84~94ºC
Is really hard to control...and many more hard to control VGA pot both (lol)...
But is a nice chip...i posted cause i never heard about a chip with this behavior...very low CB and CBB, but chip works fine at low temps...

What about lower vtt? I have seen alot of issues with this....

It's a pity that you don't have cascade, weak cascade would be amazing for this chip :)

try vpll 1.9 - 2.0v
try cpu vtt 1.3 - 1.4v and try higher vtt above 1.5v with higher vpll and vioh voltage, on some my chips it helped to achieve higher vtt stable

try skew and amplitude management, try single channel, maybe higher cpu voltage?

we had -100cb ..but that was with no remount after benching 24hrs or so. remounted and moved cb to around -130c

This isn't that unusual. I had a chip with a hard CB at ~-125C, CBB around -105C and it'd do CPU test a 6.0 and 3D at 6.2. Changing pll or vtt voltages didn't do anything for the CB *shrug* Sounds like you have a decent chip but it might die quickly due to the low temps :(

CBB and CB around -110 using triple, dual and single channel.
tried to change everything but no way to go lower than -110.
BTW you are lucky, your chip is quite good, mine was a piece of crap like i never seen before. :D
super-pi 32M at 5.7 GHZ, vantage CPU test at 5.3 GHZ, crappy uncore and no boot with vcore higher than 1.86 volt.

What about 1.44 vtt or lower?

1.42~1.475 keeps same CB and CBB, but i can t reach 6 Ghz...
1.45 to 6Ghz
1.475 to 6122
and 1.48 or more decrease performance....
1.5 can t open CPU test...lol

Have you tested multiple boards? I would use the chip wisely my friend..

Our chip at moa was like this.. Anything over 1.39 vtt would cb very high.. Gave us quite a headache.

Scaled with voltage up to 1.95v 6.5ghz Pifast -100c
Chip will probably have an early death but what I dont understand is I start the bench at -100c and dont even pour and if finishes at -99.7c??? How is that possible at 1.95v are they uber leaky or what?
6.6ghz cpuz at -110c lol

Mine doesnt seem to care where vtt is though, doesnt seem to add stability or lose stability. 5.1ghz uncore is easy as well for aq3

Dual single and triple all the same CB's, 2 core CB is -115, 6 core -125.

I boot XP at 6.27ghz all day at -95c lol!
