AMD + GTX 580 bench session

Oj101 and I decided to do some sub-zero benching to see what 3d results we could get with a stock air cooled GTX 580 powered by an LN2 cooled Phenom II 1090T. The full system is as follow:

Dragon F1 Gemini cooling pot
AMD Phenom II 1090T
Asus Crosshair IV Formula
Corsair Dominator GT DDR3 2133Mhz
Corsair HX850 PSU
Inno3d GTX 580

Please note that I only noticed at the end of the session that I never set the memory timings to CL7-8-7-21 as I run it 24/7. Some problem with the loaded bios settings not working and it reverted back to AUTO on the memory timings.

First for the 3d benchies under XP. If it wasn't for Oj101 I might very well have settled for 940Mhz graphics core. We managed 99% of the full 03 bench before it failed at the dreaded butterfly on the rock. The Vgpu for all of the benchies was set to 1.125V

First up 3DMark03 – yes I know with an i7 blah blah blah. Frankly I prefer a pot filled with LN2.

Many times before I've tried to take this 1090T into Windows 7 64bit at 5.5Ghz or higher and it won't work. I even struggled to get 5Ghz stable before but no success. Well before running Vantage Oj101 and I decided to first test stability with Cinebench 11.5. First up 5.5Ghz and what do you know. It worked:

So then we tried 5.8Ghz

In the end we tried Vantage and after lowering the vcore a tad we manage to pass 3DMark Vantage at what looks like 6Ghz but with the HT jumping around I can't really say if it was 272 x 22 or 273 x 22. Next stop 30K.

you shoukd try a nice 4 core for 06 05 and 03 ;)

All 3 benches are heavily game test limited due to cpu speed.

HT Link is high as believe it or not the system was unstable with it lower. chew, we don't have measly four core CPUs anymore :p: 03 saw the biggest jump from GTX480 to GTX580, and goals for the next session have been set as follows (same CPU clocks):

01: 100K
03: 120K
05: 45K
06: 37K
Vantage: 30K

I accept full responsibility for the high GPU clock, I was yelling "five more Megahurtz!!" half the afternoon :D

I see a few runs had the NB under 4GHz, next time we'll crank that up and HOPEFULLY I'll remember to bring my RAM along for a change (Hypers, good for the above speeds at 6-6-6 with enough voltage :p: ). We also didn't touch the GPU RAM speed other than setting it to 4.3GHz as we were pressed for LN2 as it was.

I would love to see 6.5core 4.5nb 2.6HT vantage cpu physx score.:shocked:

60fps cpu test 2 w/single cpu is xtreme.

Preety impossible, quads stuggle in vantage and my chip is one of the best in vantage and is hard pressed for 6.1/4500.

I will be benching 03 and 05 at 6.6 and 06 at 6.5 soon with some heavy gpu action ;)

Vantage was already pushed, just need moar GPU speed to be final.

OJ, hypers and thuban cold are a can of worms. can be done but a can of worms.

maybe if somone else runs it, managing 4 pots and a rig is hard enough.

I don't think it's Hypers, I think tight timings in general are a can of worms. I'm always up for a challenge though :D

Nope its A specific to hypers........PSC does fine 2000+ with thuban.

Hypers go to hell when thuban is -80 or colder.

Really the only challenge to look forward to is how much ln2 can you not waste reinstalling OS cuz they hosed your OS after -80 ;)

Just trying to save you some ln2.

Oj101, I think I'll think we'll stick with the ram we used as we know what they can do. I would like to try and increase the NB under Windows 7 and aim for 4300 in XP. The cooling pot I had worked really well, but I'm really impressed with the F1 Gemini not just because it worked so well, but getting a proper mount is pretty easy.
