Odd.
I am clocked to 420/360 right now.... could only make 420/340 reliably before.
Havent tested any 3d stuff yet, just thave a pixel shader program running on my desktop that i'm going to leave running overnight....
neat, anyways :)

Flashing to 9700pro etc raises the vmem voltage. My 9700np did 310 before flash, and 371 after flashing to pro.
did you use a voltmeter to test?Quote:

Yep.
Not much of a diffrence, could be a heat issue?Quote:

Where can I get that bios? I have samsung on my 9700pro, and the card only does 348/348.
Here are my clocks from each bios:
9700np - 275/270, 375/303 in 2D (3d would drop back)
9700Pro (mufu, Sapphire, a couple others - 420/340
9800XT - didnt work.
I was a bit premature in my 420/360, too. 3D will only do 420/340 still.. it just does higher in 2D now (not that it matters).
I should vmod my memory already, heh.
did you flash with 256mb xt bios ?Quote:

what 9800 non-xt have you got ?
I have a 9700 pro, can I flash a 9800 pro bios to get better numbers?? Or this is simply for 9800 por to 9800XT?
Thanks
9700np, used a 128mb bios.
I didnt mention an R350 series card anywhere...
Sexsymbol - Looks like it is for 9800 (R350) series cards only.
It may have worked in my case, but I would have had to back off the clocks a lot farther it seems...
Your XT bios just has loser memory timings, and that is why your mem will go higher ;)
.... is this bad reading comprehension day?
Cliff notes:
Card came as 9700np.
I flashed to 9700Pro to allow overclocking.
It went to 420/340.
I flashed to 9800XT for the heck of it.
It DIDNT WORK.
I flashed back to 9700Pro after some work.
It went to 420/340 again, after some trial-and-error.
Looks like the XT BIOS wouldn't work as it would push your memory well out of spec, you memory needs to hit 365MHz.
Hmm first of all we would need 128MB XT BIOS that doesn't exist yet in publicQuote:

Thanks man !:toast:
I modified the bios to 325/310 clocks right from the start.
That is a very nice move, I am going to have to flash my 9800pro and see how things work out.

Yeahhh you do that cuz i might do the same thing but i must know what results u getting after the xt flash on 9800 pro. Please post your results as soon as possible. Goodluck,
Hey, read this thread and was wondering that if maybe I could get ahold of a 128mb 9800xt bios and flash it on my 9700 pro (it uses the 9800 pro pcb) that I could get the ram to go higher?. It uses the hynix 2ns ram but the ram maxes out way too early it seems, prolly because its not geting enough volts?. Was wondering which bios would be appropriate for trying this out...is the tyan 128mb 9800xt bios for the cards with the hynix 2ns?
must be.
my card has sammy 2.86's and a 9700 Pro PCB, thats probably what kept the XT bios from helping in my case.
youre lucky your card has memory thats worth a damn
<-3.3ns infineon :(
Yeah, the ram is good only prob is that it can only get to like 340ish b4 I start to see artifacts with the stock bios :(, I saw a review with the 9800 pro gpu with same ram and it got 400. I need to take out the multimeter and check the vmem b4 and after flash, as well as the vgpu. BTW, I got this card over the holidays, it is the powercolor 9700 pro that was being sold at zipzoomfly for $199, I was gonna go for a 5900nu but I saw this and ordered one b4 they put the price up :) Anyway, my other question still stands about the tyan bios and whether they are for hynix 2ns ram?
I halve also tryed some biosses from the 3D MaXX site ;)
The card i tryed it on is an Club 3D 9800 NP with infineon 3.0 ns
http://www.3dmaxx.net/articles/xtflash/files/bios.shtml
Al the 128 mb biossen wil let my card boot normal but once the catalyst drivers are installed it crashes @ loading desktop after rebooting for the just installed drivers :(
There only where hynix or samsung xt biossen the didnt work on my infineon :(
so i flashed it back 2 9800 pro.
The i came across the Xt bios on the bottom of the 3D Maxx site list :
The only thing is the speeds but with a little editing with radedit that is easilly fixed :)Quote:
For 9800 cards with Infineon memory
Gigacube 9800 "XT" Lite 128MB Infineon (412MHz / 300MHz)
So thats my story :)
My 1st impression is damn ..... the games run much better know ... :toast:
The Tyan 128mb XT bios I have is for samsung.
