Is 75 C typical for an E4500 at stock Vcore?
I reseated my Thermaltake V1 countless times and still get high Linpack temps.
That's at 310x9.0.
With Windows Vista 64-bit. Linpack in 64-bit mode.
And tried many different paste application methods.
I want to go for 3.1 or 2.9, maybe 3.0, but this thing seems as hot as a Core i7. lol.
But, I'm 1 hour LinX stable at 2.79, even when at almost 80 C. (estimated, based on RealTemp assuming 100 C TJMax)
Usually no higher than 63 C with Prime95.
no thats not a normal temp thats quite high...maybe the thermal probe is incorrect

No he's saying there is an issue with the thermal probe not reading correctly. Maybe you can update your bios and see if it fixes your issue. Also make sure nothing is set to auto in the bios when it comes with voltage settings. Sometimes the motherboard goes overboard with voltage adjustments. You can also take a straight edge and see if the IHS is leveled.

I have a e4300 in one machine and yes it can get really hot at stock voltage, it will do ~2750mhz on stock volts, and will load in the 70's depending what is loading it, i.e. prime95 10k fft's will really make it sweat.
Also I've seen i7's get way hotter when running stress test's, so no I don't think it's quite as hot as i7,
and mid 70's arent that bad especially considering your running stress test, your normal apps won't load it as hot.
With Prime95, it's only 63 C.
Do prime95 10k ffts's and I bet you see it get way hotter.Quote:

in all honesty the V1 is garbage for air cooling look into a hyper212 if you want cheap better...my e4500 hit a bit higher but was on a P5Q-pro

:Ok so to sum it up you have this e4500, and your concerned with it being too hot (I think your fine), the only option that you have is to upgrade your cooling or just live with it. If you upgrade your cooling then your out more $$ that could be used towards a newer, faster, lower power, and cooler cpu.
I say live with it, like I said you are fine in the temps that you have. I have, and have had many many many intel CPU's some ran hot some run cool, I have never once killed a CPU in my 15+ years of professional computer experience. The worse that will happen is at about ~90c your computer will just shutdown or reboot.
