The first Bulldozer supported AM3+ mobo from MSI (Big Bang Theory...I mean Conqueror)

Probably it features the upcoming 990FX+SB950 chipset combo. Military Class II (hopefully real) 10 phases DrMOS PWM, 6xSATA III, 4xUSB 3.0 ports, 2xESATA,(CH IV style heatsinks :D), etc.

So, this mobo looks promising. What I'm really missing is that the simple V-Check points. I don't know why MSI can't put it onto a high-end (AMD) mobo while already the cheaper microATX LGA1155 H67MA-HD55 has it.

....aand there is no additional internal SATA port for the ODD. So, MSI if you hear me then please...:D

Millitary spec? Everyone who's in the military knows they pretty much only use Dell or Tough books.

u dont need the extra sata controller on amd, ports 0-3 can operate in one mode then 4/5 can operate in that mode or IDE, so u dont have the problem that u can get on the older amd parts or intel were u need the jmicron or some OS installs will fail from bad drivers as the ODD needs to be in IDE mode.

You can do it on ASUS and Gigabyte mobo but AFAIK MSI does not support this option. BTW, if anyone wants to use six SDD+HDD then that is still not an option. :D IMHO it would be desirable to have a single extra port at least for this purpose on such a mobo. P67A-GD65 has two extra onboard ports.:rolleyes:

Anyway, who needs two eSATA ports?

notice the socket needs the processor to have pins, not pads?

Yes,it's AM3+,it's supposed to be that way.Socket has support for both next generation Bulldozer and previous gen. X6/X4 chips.

When talking about the voltage reading points, did everybody miss that blue block by t he SATA ports? Maybe that's the new position vor Vpoints, which are turned at 90°. Or it could be just some random connector for some MSI station.

EDIT: watched the video, yes, it's a connector. But maybe the Vpoints will plug into that.

I'm fairly sure that the blue block is connector for the two front panel USB 3.0 port.

I need to see some leak Bulldozer test

Its soon, maybe in next 2 months we will see first leak benchmarks

i thought since it was in the spec for the SB8xx that every1 would use it, and i use esata but i dont get why u need 2 when u can use a port multiplier.

a better question is since most people only use the optical drive for ripping and OS installs/repairs or not at all, why even have an internal drive anymore. there is no speed gain from being internal over usb3 or esata and im guessing u could not tell the difrence on usb2 or firewire.


also for the pwm, remember that the am3+ uses the server spec PWM so it has multiple voltage phases, so that nice looking pwm has to feed 3 or 4 different voltages or power cores individually (or in pairs), so amd boards will need some giant pwms to keep up or not meet spec to work with per core voltage throttling (like am3 on the thulban parts)

can't figure out socket am3+ has 942 pins which is only 1 pin more than am3; could it be, when you insert AM3 processor, without the pin detected, it will run at different I/O?

Likely, similar to how Socket AM3 only has 938 vs 939 for AM2/AM2+ (or something like that). AM2 is only HT1, and AM2+ has split power planes or something like that. AM3 has DDR3 and HT3 (though I think AM2+ has HT3?).

no, am3+ cpu-s will have more pins than am3 cpu`s(+1,2 pins); and that`s because will have to fit only in his socket am3+;
am3 cpus can enter in am3, am2, and am3+ because of lack of key/pins;

there is a very simple hack to use SLi on amd not supported chipsets with every nvidia driver, just google it

your right .. we might not .. or we might see a leak in the wild .. in the form of someone inside of asus msi or even giga .... its them who have access to cpus to verify their microcodes or whatever works with their bios before launch .... and i assumed that it would be this way if we see a leak soon ... not directly from amd
