24 port but no cache for $700 - seems like for $230 the 9211 - even though only 8 ports - might be better?
Not impressed, but the sequential is good though
What, you expected 1000 MB/s random? That's unreal for a RAID0 array. It would require specific "random" pattern to achieve that on RAID0.
yeah highpoints are nice, the 3510/3520 are stellar controllers, for what they are. rock solid and reliable 3gb/s cards. cant handle ssd very well though, so that is what brought me to the 4320. with its IOP it should have been better equipped for SSD.
the 4320 is a POS though. a paper tiger.
once upon a time i bought the 4320, and it was incompatible with the ocz vertex ssd. actually later it turned out that it was incompatible with all ssd's.
SO i found several other people (like eight) that owned the 4320 and had OCZ drives, and we all bombarded ocz and highpoint with emails.
long story short, in the end highpoint ended up saying if they could get some ssd to test with they would fix the problem.
being members of OCZ support forums, we managed to get OCZ to send them some drives (TEN of them) to fix the issue (i think they were sick of our crying)
and guess what?
highpoint never fixed the problem.
after they received the drives, they didnt communicate with us again on the matter, ever. they acknowledged receipt, and that was it!
and i have no idea if they ever fixed it. after several months i sold the controller.
so the end result is this:
:banana::banana::banana::banana: highpoint with a rubber :banana::banana::banana::banana:.
i tested/posted/bragged about two of their controllers, spreading nice word of mouth for them. then they bonered me on the whole ssd thing. they can F off.
the least they could have done was replied to any of us that they couldnt fix it, or that it would be a long time. but they ignored everyone! hows that for customer service? hell you had to wait three days AT BEST to get a reply to any email that was sent. call them? YEAH RIGHT. they have the worst customer service i have ever seen. well you cant see, or talk to them.
LSI or areca, you can get on the phone and talk to a real live human being. hell i have called areca in taiwan and they are always helpful, and they dont even speak english!!
if highpoint dipped that controller in gold i still wouldnt wipe my ass with it, for fear that it would give me some rash and they wouldnt answer the phone to tell me how to get it to go away.
Gee CT, why don't you tell us how you really feel :D
Rofl!!
yeah a little over the top i guess, but it really irritates me that they advertised that it was compatible with SSD< then no support at all for any ssd! i think we as users were very patient, and went to much farther lengths than we should have to get them to fix it. shoulda just demanded my money back for false advertising from the get-go.
